Which application is the Mario Kart Hack found on?
January 19, 2009 07:07PM
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone can help me find the place where I can download the hack for Mario Kart Wii. I didn't see it under applications on the Homebrew Channel. Please bear in mind that I am a complete noob, so fancy lingo confuses and discourages me. You might need to give a simple answer. I don't even know if the Mario Kart hack comes with the Channel. I have yet to even download the Twilight Hack (although everything is primed and ready depending on your answer), so just to reiterate, you put both the twilight hack version 3.4 AND the .bol thing on the SD card? Your guidance and experience is much appreciated! Thank you!

Which Mario Kart hack?

Thanks for answering so soon Arikado. As previously stated, I am a noob, so I didn't know that more than one hack existed. In this case, I would like the one where you can use infinite items (blue shells, invincibility stars, bullet bills, etc.) in the game as well as online. I'm sorry if I'm being a little difficult, you might as well just tell me where to find them and I'll download a couple just to try them out if you're not familiar with the hack that I'm pathetically trying to explain to you. Your quick response was very much appreciated!
Thank

(As far as I know) there is no hack for Mario Kart Wii
but there are codes for it using Ocarina (Gecko OS)
You shouldn't use codes online

Well from what I've gathered, you can hack Maro Kart online using the Homebrew channel.
[www.youtube.com] - sorry for the poor quality, but this was a quick search. This is not quite the hack that I want either, I was just showing that it exosts. So should I load the game just with the Homebrew Gecko thing? I don't want the automatic finish hack, just the infinite items one, and I know that exists because I've played these hackers online and heard about them on Mario Kart Wii Forums.

I understand the ethics thing about using it online, but I'm just gonna be a 4 teh lulz hacker so I'll let people beat me. I'm good enough at the game so that I don't need to win every game, and that's unfulfilling anyway. I just wanna sit back and mess with my friends once in awhile just for kicks. I'm not an asshole that hacks to get their VR up, and I'm not gonna use the hack that was showed in the video link I posted because that's not even fun. Well thanks for your input bg4545, I'll see if I can make things work.

My understanding of this is that you put the codes somewhere on your SD card as a .txt file. Then you boot mario kart with gecko os. Hope that helps, I've never used cheat codes before. And like bg4545 said, please dont misuse codes online. Piss off your friends, but dont ruin the game for little johnny who just got online with mario kart for the first time.

Ok I went to this website
[www.usbgecko.com]

and I found these two codes for Mario Kart Wii (there were more, but none that I wanted)

Write Char Offset [dexter0]
D27E4DDC 00000002
3FE08000 93BF1500
3BE00000 00000000

Always Have Item *Works anywhere [dexter0]
48000000 809BEE20
DE000000 80008180
58010000 00000014
DE000000 80008180
48100000 80001500
DE000000 80008180
1400008C 000000XX
14000090 0000000Y
E0000000 80008000
Please use this code with the "Write Char Offset Code"

Underneath this was written. I use the Game Cube Controller, how exaclty would I utilize these codes?

X Values
14 = Nothing, Y = 0
12 = Triple Bannans, Y = 3
11 = Triple Reds, Y = 3
10 = Triple Greens, Y = 3
0F = Bullet Bill
0E = Lightning
0D = POW
0C = Blooper
0B = Mega Shrrom
0A = Gold Shroom
09 = Star Power
08 = Lightning
07 = Blue shell
06 = Bomb
05 = Shrooms, Y = 3
04 = 1 Shroom
03 = Fake Box
02 = Bannana
01 = Red shell
00 = Green Shell

MKWii Universal Button Activators
AA...AA Value
GC Controller:
Y + A = 30343E7F 00000009
Y + A = 38343E80 00000900 - Alternative to above value

Wii Wheel:
1 + 2 = 30341460 00000300
- + 2 = 30341460 00001100

So do I copy these codes onto the SD card along with the Twilight Hack information and the .dol? I haven't installed the Homebrew Channel yet, would it be better to first install the Channel and then put these codes on? I apologize for throwing so much at you at once.
Re: Which application is the Mario Kart Hack found on?

you need to use .txt files to arrange the codes and you need the Ocarina Code Manager [PC app] that converts the codes from the txt file to a .GCT file which is what Gecko OS uses to load the codes. There is a Code Database here.

It would be easier to install the HBC first, but it isn't necessary...

Hey dude don't worry, I am little Johnny :). No, but I'm not a douche anyway, I won't be screwing people over. This is just a casual thing, I'll mainly race normally, this is just a little endeavor. Ok, so I'll try to copy those on as a .txt file along with the Twilight Hack and .dol and then I'll see what happens. Thanks for your help.

the codes have be in .GCT format in the codes folder on the root of the SD card
here's were you can get the code manager: [wiird.l0nk.org]
Quote

Ocarina is a cheat homebrew, now integrated in Gecko OS.
Ocarina checks the GAME ID like RZDP01 for Zelda Twilight Princess (PAL). Then it checks the inserted SD card whether it can find a cheat code file for that game: in this case it would have to be named [sd]:\codes\rzdp01.gct.
To create GCT files, a PC application (Code Manager) was bundled in the package and now is available from the Gecko OS forum : [wiird.l0nk.org]
This application is coming with 2 sample files : rsbe.txt and rsbp.txt (Smash Brothers NTSC-U and PAL respectively). Using the File menu you can open them and select the cheats you want.
Note that unlike an Action Replay, you can modify codes with XXXXXXXX inside them. It will always ask you to store modifications to its application memory.
Once you're done selecting codes: click on "Export to GCT" and the rest should be pretty straight forward! Codes can be found here : [www.usbgecko.com]

Ok I have a problem, the pc application that converts files into gct is an exe and I have a mac, therefore it does not work on my computer. Any suggestions?
Edit: where can I find a code manager (?) for mac

I don't think there is a Code Manager for mac yet, but if you have a hex editor you can make the .gct files.
I found this on the WiiRD forums: [wiird.l0nk.org]
"I know that darwine works, but that's only for intel macs"

I thought the Ocarina cheats didn't work with online play!

No they all do. However, some of the brawl codes will give people without the codes the appearance as though the codes are not in effect.

aww s*** that sucks... no wonder there are guys online that I can't beat sometimes...

but I have never seen the crazy ones like endless bullet bill or endless blue shells of death
Re: Which application is the Mario Kart Hack found on?

I have used an application called txt2gct which converted the codes in .txt to .gct. Strangely, it's not reading them and the Homebrew Channel remains blank. If there was even an easier way to get the Gecko loader on Homebrew Channel, then I think I could get the codes on. Thanks for your help, you've gotten me pretty far, I'm almost there!

You downloaded gecko os, unzipped it, and put it into your apps folder which is in the root of your SD card right?
Re: Which application is the Mario Kart Hack found on?

/apps/Gecko_OS/boot.dol
/codes/RMC#.gct [# is your region, E = USA, P = EUR, J = JAP]

I think I have exactly what bg4545 just said. However, what I used to have was a folder I downloaded directly from the Geckos site called geckoos. I think since I have version 3.4 on my wii, it didn't work, saying that it was invalid. I deleted that one off and put on the Gecko_OS but now nothing shows up on the HB Channel at all. I'm gonna check a few things real quick and then I'll get back to you.
