Suppose I make a 3D model in a program like Sketchup. How can I import it and animate it on the Wii?by sanman - Ideas, requests
Hi, go on Youtube, and you'll see plenty of vids for Modern Warfare Reflex. Here are some search results: (Just as an aside, I came across this link to a clever HTML5 youtube-viewer: Check it out! It's even more efficient than the regular Flashplayer used by Youtube itself. It would be cool if HTML5 could be featured on Wii's browser, because then Wii would be ableby sanman - Offtopic
Has anyone seen the latest footage from the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex? Wow, I was pretty impressed with what a I saw. I similarly liked the visual detail on Deadspace Extraction, even though it was on rails, but what I didn't like about it was that it was a horror genre. I hate horror stuff - unless they make it campy, like High Voltage Software's upcoming title, The Gby sanman - Offtopic
Well, your compiler is designed to compile for a particular processor - in this case it's PowerPC, since Broadway is a PowerPC processor. So it's taking your source language and converting it into machine code for the PowerPC processor. Similarly, your Graphics API should be designed to work with a particular Graphics Processor, which in this case is the GX API for the Hollywood cby sanman - Coding
Hi, Could you explain why? Anything is going to have to compile into machine code anyway - so what's the difference on what language you code it in? I assume the Wii's hardware deals in executable code, and not in source code. It's only your compiler that cares about what source language is used. Why shouldn't it be possible to code Java or Ruby apps for the Wii?by sanman - Coding
Upon further reading, here is something I found: The log said Jun-2009, so that seems recent enough. It doesn't do 3D yet, but apparently that's on the roadmap.by sanman - Coding
Hi, thanks for the responses. Technik, thanks, I visited your Revolution site. Tell me - have any of you heard of OGRE.rb and Shattered Ruby? Together they seem to form a 3D game development engine derived from Ruby-on-Rails. Go to the bottom of this page, and also look at the one that comes after it: Also here: As a web developer, I've dabbled with Ruby-on-Rails,by sanman - Coding
Hi, Thanks so much for your reply. Okay, I see that now. I don't know too much about game development, but I'd like to ask about what useful free tools and utilities exist for doing game development on the Wii. I've read about various "game engines", including engines like Torque and Unity which have been advertised as being available for the Wii. I've always assumby sanman - Coding
Hi, I was looking for links to as many useful sites as possible that would help me to learn the Wii's graphics API, which I think is called GX. I was looking for tutorials, sample code, examples, etc - anything that can help me learn more about doing graphics on the Wii - especially 3D graphics. My understanding is that Wii's graphics API is similar to or derived from GameCubeby sanman - Coding
