Upgrading old Homebrew System - 11 years ago

I had a wii that I installed Homebrew on a few years ago. I just fired it up and everything works, but I lost my SD card. Is there a safe way to upgrade my OS (4.1U) and my Homebrew v(1.06 I think)? Can I reinstall Homebrew using the same techniques right on top of the old one? Any upgrade guide out there? Thanks
