A little help updating
July 21, 2009 02:27AM
Hello:

I have a PAL Wii with 3.2E installed and a D2Pro9 v2 modchip. I've been playing safe but I'm thinking about finally updating to 4.1, however I'd like to first make sure that I'm about to follow the correct procedure to do it without sacrificing the homebrew that matters to me, namely using AnyRegion Changer to change the video mode from PAL to NTSC and being able to boot trucha signed backups. As far as I'm aware, this is what I should do after updating to 4.1E:

1 - Install HMC using bannerbomb
2 - Run CMDVDX34 to install a version of IOS35 that allows me to use AnyRegion Changer and change the video mode
3 - Use WiiSCU to update the four IOSs with trucha patched versions (would I need to update the channels as well?)

So, is there anything wrong with this deduction? Or can I go ahead?
Thanks in advance.

It should all work fine, except #3. After you use CMDVDX34, you will need to install v1042 of IOS36 (download it with NUS Downloader and install it with WAD Manager running on IOS35). This is because WiiSCU needs the trucha bug in IOS36 to fakesign other IOSes.
