DOSBox Wii Help!!!
July 30, 2009 12:12PM
As I never used DOS in my life,I have no idea what commands to type in order to start the games.
My SD structure is as this.
sd/apps/dosbox-wii
sd root/DOSBox/several games in separate folders

Can anyone simply tell me what command to type, please?

In short:

Use dir to show the content of the current directory.
Use cd foldername to change to respective directory.

Usually you should follow the instructions of every game, to see how start it.

Thanks for your answer!
I tried these commands but it keeps telling me that I am always in Z: drive.
What can I type in order to choose another one?Like C for example...

Sorry, I forget to mention that:

To change to another drive, just type the drive letter.

...followed by a ":"

(for example: "c:")

Try C:/ or c:/

Make sure you are using : and not ;

it needs to be c:

c; gives an illegal command...

c:/ also works

And my 'illegal command' nightmare continues...
Are you sure that as soon as I start DOSBox Wii the first command I uoght to type is c:/ ?

Erm, I'm pretty sure you have to type out an entire path, not just the drive name.

Here's a full path:
Pretend I is the equivalent of the SD Drive (I actually don't know what is):
I:\apps\DOSBoxWii\MyDOSGames\TieFighter.exe

Edit: Actually, isn't sd:\ the SD Drive name?

I never used Dosbox on the Wii, but under the real MS-DOS, you used drive-letter followed by a : to change the drive.

you also use \ instead of /

You need a Wii Remote and a USB keyboard.

The C: drive will automatically be mounted to sd:/DOSBox/ if loaded from apps/dosbox-wii/. Otherwise, the directory the dol is loaded from will be mounted as C, and sd:/DOSBox as D (if present). The Z: driver is a virtual drive that is part of DOSBox.

Other drives can be mounted using the MOUNT command. Prefix sd: for an SD card, and usb: for a USB drive. The Wii's DVD drive and network folders can't be mounted at this time.

The configuration file is loaded from the directory the dol is located in (if present) and sd:/DOSBox/dosbox.conf otherwise. This file will be created automatically after you start DOSBox. Please edit it with a text editor to choose settings appropriate for each game.

Press the Home button, type "exit", press Ctrl+F9, or press Reset (on the console) to exit.

yes, but for some reason / works on the wii

If it is still failing, trying mounting the folder yourself with:

mount c sd:/apps/dosbox-wii/whateveryouwant

or

mount c sd:/whateverfolderyouwant

then try

c:

On dosbox-wii C: is automatically st to sd:/dosbox(atleast on mine) so theoretically you would just have to go

c:
CD c:/games name

When I tried it,the'Directory sd not found' command appeared!
What may causes this problem?

what exactly are you typing?

i get a "directory sd doesn't exit if i just type "mount e sd" you have to have the ":"

if i type "mount e sd:/apps" it works fine.

I tried to type 'mount e sd:/apps' and the result was a 'Directory does not exist' message.
The exact same happened when I typed 'mount c sd:/apps'
Maybe I did something wrong with the folders placement,or I don't know what else to think... :-((((
