What happened to MiiPlayer?

Why was it taken off the site? I searched to forums for 'miiplayer' and got 0 hits. This seems surprising to me because it works SO much better than MplayerCE...

Never heard of it. Is it a media player?

yes, it is pretty much a tweaked version of MplayerCE

it performs much better on my Wii. You can see the link to the wiibrew.org page where it used to be in the google search above (it's the second hit). The first hit is the google.code site where you can still download it.

some words of warning though:
1. the mplayer ce menu seemed better to me
Solution: i copied the menu.conf from mplayer ce to miiplayer.

2. my forwarder only works with mplayer_ce. when i tried to rename the miiplayer folder to mplayer_ce, the forwarder launches it, but miiplayer complains about not finding the 'miiplayer' folder and exits.
Solution: i have a 'mplayer_ce' folder that contains only the boot.dol from miiplayer. I also have a 'miiplayer' folder that has all the other miiplayer files as well as another copy of the boot.dol.

Of course, from what I've read since this post, WiiMC is going to blow all of this out-of-the-water (hopefully, in a few months)

well i had a quick glance at the logs, and it seems that it was moved (i.e. renamed) to Moondance, then deleted from MiiPlayer. Then Moondance was deleted.

yeah, i saw that too. just hoping someone official can chime in here and explain what's going on...

miiPlayer was based on a newer revision of MPlayer CE, r566 I believe.

All it had was:
- Nerfed DVD reading.
- Rotating OSD with different information.
- Multiple backgrounds.

It only existed because I refused gazstone's patches.

so...was it removed from wiibrew because gazstone wasn't giving you Mplayer CE guys credit?
or because he wasn't in the 'in-crowd' at wiibrew?

Neither. It says "by author request" in the logs. If it were any other reason, it would say so.
