will it be possible to combine homebrew applicatons?

im just speculating about "what if"

what if it where possible to have the dvd player app (don't know what it's called) be used as a directory for different emulators say in the dvd was every emulator and you could run the emulator and roms through the dvd.

like i said this is just speculation and I am quite new to programming so I don't know if this is possible

Would have to be programmed and rebuilt.

you mean the homebrew app?

couldnt an update provide the functionality?

Can you suggest an alternate method other than a rebuild to just 'update' it?

Using the latest version of Wii64 you can run ROMs through a dvd, but the emulator must be ran through the homebrew channel.

So the Wii64 app calls the roms from the dvd?

Does that make N64 games run better at all?

I think what he means is making a universal program to do everything with out loading a new app so like combines the nes emu and snes9x and wii64 and genesis and have it so it can detect what kinda roms you load and play them all with out switching programs. but this would be too hard because then the programs update they would have to be reintegrated into this one main program and it would be very hard and complicated so pretty much no one would do it and its more of a hassle then its worth.

Someone needs to write a loader that can load another homebrew app and pass it some parameters, and have the app return to it when done. Then you'd have a file browser where you select a ROM, and it loads the appropriate emulator.

sounds like an interesting concept would be pretty cool if it was easily done could have the emulators set up as sort of plugins to the rom loader.

It wouldn't even need a plugin system, it'd work the same as double-clicking a file in Windows. The file browser knows which program deals with which file type, and just starts that program and gives it the path to the file.

I think that it would be very hard to do this with the already made emulators that the emulators would need to modified to include extra launching function. maybe the application could patch the code to include this new function but I don't know if that would be possible or not.

What some people have said makes me thing of wat Hyperhacker said

have an app that reads a dvd that contains roms and when someone selects the rom the correct emulator will load

thus combining the apps "dvd installer" and emulators such as "VBA" "SNES" etc

if it's possible ill try to think of other combinations
