Can't watch DVDs!

I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find out why this is happening. I installed DVDx and Mplayer CE. When I go to Play DVD, a small message appears that says "mounting disc" and then nothing happens! Does anybody have any idea why this is happening?
If it makes a difference, I have a Japanese Wii with system 4.1. Thanks in advance for any help!

try playing with libdvdnav.

If you have a modchip, install cIOSUSB2, use the old DVDx installer (it's on Homebrew Browser) and go Advanced install > 202

It is no longer necessary to do that. the latest CIOSUSB2.0 has "built in" DVDx. You just install it and then DVDs will work, no need for DVDx at all. Still needs DVDx for other apps, but MPlayer CE will play DVDs with only the latest CIOSUSB2.0, no need for DVDx, advanced or normal installation.

Yeah, but If he had Bootmii as IOS then that'd fill the patchmii "slot"

However, my Wii isn't modded. Right now I'm just trying to uninstall and reinstall DVDx. So far, nothing works....

He's on 4.1, none of this will work. The only thing that will is HackMii Installer. He can't install cIOSUSB2.0 and he cant use that DVDx installer to do advanced install.


EDIT: However, HackMii installer should do the job fine....

The thing is I've tried installing it with the HackMii Installer many times and I still get the same problem. When I install it, it says "Success!" However, nothing happens after I see the message "Mounting DVD" in MPlayer CE. I guess this will remain an unsolved mystery.....

Maybe you should try more than one DVD (if you haven't already)...

What kinds of DVDs are you trying to play?

I've tried regular DVDs. Some I bought here and some I bought in Japan.

I just ran signcheck and here is what was posted:

+ Using ios 36 (rev 3094
+ Region Japan
+ Hollywood Version 0x11

+ Found 18 ios on this console

Great (or not so great), you have a cIOS.
Download the USB 2.0 cIOS installer here: [mplayer-ce.googlecode.com]

Run the installer, when you are asked to choose which IOS to use, select 249.
After the install, try playing your DVDs again.

Well, I ran the installer and tried to play a DVD but I still got the same problem...

I too have just run into this, only I noticed this has happend AFTER I installed the update off the Conduit Game disk. I dont know how to (or if there is is a way to, get it to play DVD's again. Whats happening to mine is either 1. It starts to play the movie but after about 5 seconds into playing the movie it just goes right back the to Mplayer (I am using both CE and the "regular" versions) screen and thats it. OOr 2. I try to play it using the chapter #1 option it plays roughly about 10 seconds of the movie and then does the same thing as the other. I tried to use the DVDx installer that the HBC installer comes with but that made no diffrence. Any one have a clue or Idea how to fix this?

Try using the latest MPlayer CE and libdvdnav.
