Unable to use the Disc Channel anymore?

I had just installed the homebrew channel on my wii but now I can no longer startup any game from the wii wenu. Now it tells me to do an update on my wii in that disc channel so the only way I can start my game is from Homebrew using Gecko OS. Is it supposed to be this way because I liked having the title screen there and I can't say I'm enjoying having to startup games thru HBC. >_>

Edit: Should I just go ahead and update thru the disc channel or is it a trap?

If you install the updates with Gecko OS, you'll be fine. Well, even from disc channel should be OK, but just install from Gecko OS to be sure.

You can use preloader and hack the system menu to load the disk channel with an update skip, thats what I did.
