Any homebrew like Savegame Installer / Extractor?

As many of you probably know, the aforementioned homebrew no longer works with the newer HBC. I know of Savegame Manager, but it requires Waninkoko's latest cIOS to be installed and I'm trying to avoid using that at the recommendation of many here. Are there any safer alternatives that are around? I tried searching, but of course most of the results just led me to Savegame Installer / Extractor.

Use tona's PatchMii cIOS. It's AWWWWlegal.

I've tried that, and it seems to mess with the functionality of Savegame Manager; none of the savegames appear on the list. When I install the less-than-legal cIOS instead of the Patchmii clone, the app works fine... but like I said, I'd like an alternative if possible. ; )
