Need help setting up Homebrew Channel

Alright, so I followed all the instructions on the wiki and can't get it to work. Every time I do the Twilight Hack, the lines of text that come up say that the boot.dol cannot be found. I'm running 3.4 on my Wii. I'm using the correct version of the Twilight Hack, v0.1 beta 2.

Here's what my SD card looks like:



In the apps folder is just a wad installer.

make sure that you have the newest HBC installer... the older ones wont work with 3.4!

I think that the TPHack would still find boot.dol, it just wouldn't install the channel.
Try redownloading boot.dol

and as a side note, don't expect to get any help with that Wad Installer here. Go somewhere else to ask that (hint: GBAsomething)

I redownloaded HBC just to make sure I had all the up to date files, but still nothing.

I reformatted my SD card and that did the trick.

Time to learn how to use the .wad installer. >_>

We don't support WADs here, as they are almost all in some way illegal.

but whodares is making a legal channel creator, so it will be cool in a little while, right now, installing wads is either for pirated VC games or custom channel, which SOMEHOW uses Nintendo code...

oh really? you can install channels without a wad?

what would the package type be then? and what would we use to install it?

Yep. The WAD is just a file container. I can't remember who clarified the information for me, but it came up because I asked when looking at creating the channel creator/installer.

The package and installer would be of my own devising. Was thinking of compression and some form of CRC checksum to validate a package before the installation was attempted.

This isn't really the place for this conversation so PM me, email me or create another thread if you have any more questions.

I'll just bring it up in the channel tools thread..

Whatever his motives for using a wad installer, the twilight hack not booting the HBC installer is a different issue. Try reformatting the card, preferably by using this.

erm, he said he got it to work, so closing :P
