Uninstall/Reinstall homebrew?

So I just got a WiiU and wanted to do the Wii system transfer, but unfortunately I couldnt because I got an error code when I tried to connect to the internet on the Wii. I looked it up on google and it seemed to be because of my homebrew installed. So my question is: can I delete all homebrew off of my Wii, perform the system transfer, and then reinstall it? I also ask because a while back I had to use my Wii's SD card for something, but the backup for it I performed on my computer failed and only copied the apps folder for some reason, so reinstalling homebrew would be nice to fix that.

You should be able to do it fine with homebrew installed. Are you sure you have the latest update of the system software installed? Try performing a system update from the Wii Settings menu. Despite the nonsense you may read elsewhere on the internet, this is perfectly safe with homebrew installed, and won't even remove the latest version of the homebrew channel.
