I bricked my wii after installing a new ios for the shop channel, I have bootmii/boot2 installed so I can access the homebrew channel and all, so, what is my best bet? should I restore my nand backup? or what? I have 4.2U so would upgrading work?

Okay, I load up my wii it says ''The System files are corrupted'' I have a 4.2U wii. Also, when it says the system files are corruped, the message is messed up, like you can barely see it.

That message is usually the result of a banner brick. Did you install any channels recently?

No, at least I didn't think I did. is there a way to check if there is any banner bricked channels?

Not that I know of. If you do not know what is causing this error, then a NAND restore with BootMii boot2 is likely your best option.

It says the dump is for a different wii? how is that possible? and what exactly is the konami code?

Either the NAND dump really is from another wii, or it was made with Bootmii Beta 3, in which case you will have to modify the NAND dump yourself because of a bug in that revision of Bootmii. However, this is probably more effort than it is worth. Furthermore, the Konami code is only necessary if you have Bootmii installed as IOS, not boot2. If this is the case, restoring the NAND backup is somewhat dangerous.

If you haven't recently installed a custom channel or theme, you may have corrupted message board data. Try to access maintenance mode. If it works, go to the system settings and perform a format. This will fix it.

bootmii is installed as boot2 and I have an older nand dump *it was made a few months ago* I'm going to try that. and I'll try maintenance mode.

Edit: It worked!
