Upgrading Homebrew from Beta 8 without Network

Hey there,

I usually avoid posting newb questions, but somehow I am totally lost.

I installed the "Homebrew Channel" with Version Beta 8 last year. I forgot about it, heard about the homebrew browser and tried to run it without success (copied it to my /app folder but it won´t run (the progress bar freezes)).

After a few tries, and thinking about the 3.4 Problems, I decided to upgrade the "Homebrew Channel" (which as far as I understand means replacing the boot.dol). Sadly I was not able to run any loader from the channel itself (everything freezes) then I tried to change the files via wiiloader and failed because my wii says "Network not started" (pressing the home menu in the homebrew channel). Now I am not sure, do I have to connect it via network cable? It is running here with wlan (and I can connect to the internet) so how do I get it into the network?

Oh the upgrade option is sadly not in beta 8.

Any ideas? Thank you in anticipation...

Run the HBCs 1.0.1 boot.dol as an application via the HBC.

Thanks for the fast info. Sadly the same problem occurs.

What I did:
- Took my 1024mb Sd-card which I used to install beta 8 and formated it (fat32)
- Made sure the switch on it is not on copy-protected
- Copied the 1.0.1 boot.dol into a newly created "apps/Update" folder
- Executed it with the HBC

The Channel now gives me a progress bar without any progress. It freezes at 0% (the bubbles are still moving though).

Hm any Ideas? Or do I have to reinstall HBC (which will not be easy without TP)?

Make sure the gamecube memory cards are not in your wii when you try to load apps.

Haha oh my....

That was a only a problem in beta 8 of the channel. You'll be pleased to know that all versions since then have corrected that issue.

Everythings working fine. I mean the Browser....that is pure genious.

Oh and now it shows me my Wii Ip. I am really satisfied....Hooray for Homebrew!
