Do I have to place emulators on the root of my SD?

Do I, or am I able to make a separate folder for my emulators because it is getting quite cluttered on the root of my SD. Thank you.

...What? you put the emulator in the apps folder, or download it off the homebrew browser

Oh well what I did was download a ROM, extract it to a folder on my computer, and then copy the ROM on to the root of my SD. I just realized I made a mistake in my post by saying emulators; I meant to be saying do I have to put the ROMs at the root of the SD card?
