Seriously need some help WITH Home Brew Channel
February 10, 2010 12:59AM
Hello everyone,

I'm jamie, a serious noob to all the wii stuff that's going around.
I'll cut straight to the point, I used The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to install the HBC.

Althought i think I did everything they said in the tut.. it doesn't work at all.
I'm at the point where when you talk to the guy, i get a black screen with loads of text like;
start cluster = 01a0
start cluster = 25a0
etc etc,

now at the end of this list it tells me this;
Failed to read boot.elf (-1)!
No code found to load, hanging.

Now i'm in desperate need of some help, if someone would be so nice and point out what kind of noobish mistake i'm making. Thanks in advance!

Jamie

You didn't drop the HackMii Installer on your SD card.

Get it here: [www.bootmii.org]

Drop boot.elf on the root of your SD card.

I wish that was the problem but I got like the private folder and the boot.elf on my SD card.
still doing something wrong? :(

^^Both of those items need to be separate from each other. I'll use an example so you know how they should be setup properly.

Lets start off as though your SD card completely is blank with nothing on it ok and you're gonna put things on it ok?

With your SD card as completely blank and nothing else you place the private folder you have onto the card by itself. It should show up at this point.

The boot.elf that was provided for the HBC goes in the blank part of the card as well....Not in the private folder you newly created.....So stay completely away from that and dont access it. Leave it visible on your screen and copy the boot.elf for HBC to the SD card. This should now show up on the SD card as well. So both the HBC boot.elf and the private folder should be visible on your screen.

That should clear up your problem, as I think the way you have it right now is that you have the private folder on your SD, but you probably accessed that folder, and placed the HBC boot.elf in it.....Which is wrong. Yes these things are on your SD card, but not in the proper manner.

Also a note for the future in case you didnt already know. You see how WikiSFx has mentioned the root of your SD card correct? When anyone tells you root then it means the blank area of the SD card you see when you first insert your SD card, and your computer shows you a screen for it. If you got folders for apps and what not, and someone says this or that goes to the SD cards root then ignore everything else you see on your card and just copy and paste w/e you were told to on the blank area of the card. Nowhere else.

Nightwishfan1, thanks for the reply.. and I did as you said.
But it's still not working =/

here's exactly the steps that i'm doing.

1. I turn off my wii
2. I take out the SD card (which is 150 mb) and place it onto my computer
3. Then I take the twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2 private folder and drag it on the SD card.
4. After I dragged it in, i go to the folder called hackmii_installer_v0.6 which contains the boot.dol and the boot.elf and drag boot.elf to the root of the SD card
5. then I take out the SD card and plug it into my WII
6. Turning on the WII and load zelda with the twilight hack.
7. I talk to the little dude in front of me and the magic happens.. but then it stops and I get this failure message

Failed to read boot.elf (-1!)
No code found to load, hanging

I hate this xD... help?

Thanks!

Maybe your SD card is not supported. Can you try a different card?

Try using bannerbomb if you are using System Menu 3.0 or higher.

The SD card still may not be supported by homebrew though..

What System Menu do you have? You should only be using Twilight Hack beta2 if you have 3.4. If its below that(e.g. 3.3, 3.2 etc.), use beta1. You can't be over 3.4, or Twilight Hack wouldn't work at all.

I still say it's an SD card issue.
The Twilight Hack runs but does not find the SD card so it produces this error

So try a different SD card if you can.

oh, no problem, at your wii's main screen (with all the channels) click on the Wii button on the bottom left and then click on Wii Settings.

It'll say your version number in the top right.

That is not supported here, please refrain from talking about it/asking questions on these forums. Thanks.
