Wii Shop Channel Question

Is it possible to remove the wii shop channel from the wii menu? It scares me, knowing someone in my house could mess it all up by updating..

Just use WiiSCU to update the shop channel but keep your system menu

Removing the wii shop channel will not prevent your wii from being updated. Shop channel is not what updates it. But i would use WiiSCU to update everything but keep the functionality.
