Wait, would MPlayer allow me to run a normal DVD (like from a store) directly... or what..? *confusion*

Yes. MPlayerCE allows for normal DVD playback. I believe that you do need to have DVDx installed first though.

yes use the hackmii installer to install homebrew channel and DVDx
then use the homebrew browser to download mplayer CE then run a dvd through mplayer
