should i update the firmware befor installing homebrew?

I have a Wii with the 3.4E Firmware.

1. should I update the firmware before installing homebrew?
2. which homebrew, Bootmii version is the best one for this firmware?

No homebrew/bootmii version is better depending on your Firmware version. What I suggest is to use the twilight hack to install the HBC, and then install bootmii as boot2 if you can.

You can update before or after installing homebrew. Unless you have been using "downgraders" you will be fine.

so the twilight hack would be better with this firmware? I thought that Bannerbomb is easier to use?

Twilight Hack is more stable than Bannerbomb.

If you don't have Twilight Princess or LEGO Indiana Jones, use bannerbomb. Otherwise, use the Twilight Hack or Indiana Pwns, respectively.
