Should I activate WiiConnect24? And FC question
December 25, 2009 12:12PM
I wanted to try out the Nintendo Channel. Thing is, I've heard a lot about WiiConnect24. Here's my questions.

If I turn off standby mode, will it stop my Wii from overheating if I have WC24 enabled?
Will Nintendo patch my console to disable HBC?
Do I need it on if I wanna play SSBB or Onslaught online?

Also, I wanna play SSBB online with some friends. If I give them my FC/Brawl code, can they see my Miis, console nickname, etc?

And is it normal for the "Health and safety" warning screen to freeze for a second as it dims, then loads the system menu?

What will display to my friends so they know it is me playing?

Your Brawl name? I've never gotten it working, so I wouldn't know.

Should I have WiiConnect24 on even if I have HBC and, if standby is on, would the system overheat?

It doesn't matter if you have it on or not. Over time, leaving standby on may (I have heard) damage the GPU, causing at least minor video problems.

That answer was for if Standby mode was off. I'm asking about if it should be turned on.

What are the benefits/cons of having standby mode on or off? Like, say I sent a message to a friend. Will I get any messages they sent if I turn my system back on? Will Nintendo access my Wii?
