can this wii be modded?

I have a week old wii...serial number is: lu73xxx and it has the 4.2 firmware...Can this wii be modded for home brew channel and if so, what are the chances of bricking it??

Yes. Any Wii (except for possibly Korean Wiis) can have homebrew installed, and the brick risk is the same as any other Wii: zero during HBC/DVDX/BootMii (IOS) install, very low during BootMii (boot2) install. You can't install BootMii/boot2 on that Wii anyway.

EDIT: The serial number of your Wii does not matter at all. All that prevents you from doing is installing old IOSes.
