homebrew/bootmii problems

Okay,
I'm just a lowly newb have mercy on me please. I've gone through all the steps, I did the bannerbomb,hackmii, all that stuff. hbc is on my wii 4.2u but I can't get past the wiimote shutdown. From the hbc home page, all I can do is press 1 to sort apps (i have none yet) or press home to launch bootmii. I've read every blog and tut I can about this and nothing helps obviously I'm doing something wrong. any help please?

You can't use the Wiimote in Bootmii. Only the Gamecube remote for Bootmii as IOS, or Gamecube remote and buttons on the front of the Wii for Bootmii as Boot2
