I have System Menu 4.2, can I/how do I update/use the Wii Shop Channel without upgrading to System Menu 4.3?

Just use dop-Mii Linuz, this is widely known, and posted in a large number of topics in this forum, and that doesn't stop people making new topics continually....

Anyway, there's no real reason not to just update.

I used the search feature but could not find it in other topics easily... I just happened to follow the link from the Wiki Homepage to DOP-Mii.

No it won't, but if you're willing to perform workaround installs with dop-Mii then I don't see why you aren't willing to install HBC.
