Playing roms off DVD?

My Wii is several years old and on 4.3u. I just installed Homebrew to play some SNES games. Because of space issues with my SD card I wanted to burn a DVD. I downloaded Snes9xgx and a few roms, put those in the roms folder and burned a DVD+ with the IS09660 + Joliet settings. I also set up the /apps folder on the disc. I assumed when I put the disc in the Wii and opened Homebrew something would happen...but nothing happens. Am I just trying to use Homebrew incorrectly? Is the best solution to just get a larger SD card? Thanks for any help!

Edit: In case it helps, I installed Homebrew using Letterbomb.

Edit 2: I solved the problem by simply getting a larger SD card.
