I am new to this but I have one question, my system has 3.3U installed everything I read is 3.4 or 3.2 should I leave 3.3U installed without updating to 3.4? Or should I downgrade from 3.3U to 3.2? I would like to install the homebrew application.

Stay at 3.3U.. or you can downgrade, but it has an "Interesting" process... You'll be just fine at 3.3U though. You can also upgrade (HIGH NOT RECOMMENDED), no one knows what the future holds for that firmware.. so just stay at 3.3U.. you'll be able to install homebrew on there anyways...

Yeah, definitely stay on 3.3. Although I have 3.4 and everything is working fine, I fear that these "automatic" updates I've been hearing about in Nintendo's new policy is going to crack down on my Wii and get rid of the HBC and/or make it harder for me to run homebrew.

So definitely stay at 3.3, life's going to be a lot easier for you if you do.
