Any volunteers to help optimize VBA GX?

This is a bit of a lame post but worth trying.

Does anyboday have the necessary technical knowledge and, most importantly, the motivation to help optimize VBA GX?
The app Tantric has developed is nothing short of fantastic but some games run a little herky-jerky.
An example would be scrolling sideways on Metroid Zero Mission where you can notice the movement is not very smooth.

The issue is that the Wii does not have enough power to run the core in its current state since it's all ported in C language.
Tantric has an open request for help on this on the Wiibrew article:

He has commented in the past that making the emulator faster is not particularly a goal of his but I think it would be terrific, myself.

Anyway, I open it up for comments, positive or negative...

I'll do it. Might be fun!
