I was thinking, as the wii runs off a very basic unix OS, do you guys think there would be some way to use either a Linux, or Windows machine to use NAND.bin to run a wii (your backed up wii) as an emulator via virtual machine or something of that nature.

You can dump your NAND and use it in Dolphin (Wii emulator) if thats what you mean...
