To be accurate, it will depend on if the emulator supports the .img format. some do, some don't.by I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
QuoteLinkSlayer64QuoteArikadoBecause the Wii has a read-only DVD drive and PS1 games are on CDs. In other words, the Wii's Disc drive is incapable of reading CDs. I had never heard that before, huh I had always thought a DVD drive could always read CDs, ok, well thanks for the info They have to be built specifically to do that.by I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
QuoteBitLooterQuoteI.S.T.Trust me, it didn't emulate those games well... My memories are probably colored by age, but I know it worked well enough that I would actually play games with it and not constantly curse the computer for being so slow. I don't know if you ever used Bleem, but it was a great piece of software for what it did. It's a damn shame they got shut down by Sony soby I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
QuoteBitLooterQuoteDanielHuehoEDIT: tech question, for anybody who understand this stuff: PSX emulation is kinda of lightweight, right? AFAIK, PCs could emulate the console with Pentium II and less than 64 MB of ram, with interpreters, not recompilers. How fast can be the interpreter mode on WiiSX? For the record, I have successfully emulated games at playable speeds (with sound) on a Pentium-2by I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
I'm not arguing for a bsnes on the Wii. that is a pointless endeavor at best! Just a more accurate emulator than snes9x. The reason I want a more accurate emulator is the amount of bugs snes9x has, and that many of the emulation problems cannot be fixed without rewriting it. =\ But, if the Wii is too slow to go even a little above snes9x accuracy, then I guess this argument is moot. :(by I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
The reason most people won't be able to tell the difference is they've never experienced the original game, only the imitation. That was my point. Yes, my language was confusing, and I apologize for that. I think in contradicting sentences that only make sentence to me, and I don't always catch them when making a post or writing, well, anything. The reason I mentioned the FF3 prby I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
SNES emulation is sadly not gonna be that good. =\ snes9x is a flawed emulator, with many bugs and many games having incorrect sound. Compare FF3's sound effects to the cart and you'll find a great deal of difference. :( Most people might not be able to tell the difference, but that's because usually the best known games are emulated well. Stuff like FF3 wasn't played by thatby I.S.T. - Homebrew Applications
Not the easier thing in the world to do. Some games can convert in less than 20 minutes. Others would take a long time as you have to basically manually do it. =\by I.S.T. - Offtopic
QuoteaujakevI have Windows 95 running on my wii you cant tell me that was imposable! it would just take a long time to program, and test and release.... A Really Long Time.... Think what you want, but I think it's possable! also, What the Hell does a Atari have to do with the Emulation of a PS2? it's possible, but not at playable speeds. QuoteGoldenAlchemistQuoteaxelpaxelWhat about the mic? Most games don't use the mic so thats a triviality. A lot of very big name games do, though, so it'd be needed. Also, pinball wizard, that rule varies depending on the system. Something with a crapload of chips(Like the Saturn) needs more power than something without(The PS1), provided the systems are overall matches, etc.by I.S.T. - Homebrew General
no$GBA would be damn hard to port. It's not open source, and it's almost entirely written(If not entirely) in x86 assembly. You'd have to reverse engineer it. Most likely it'd be easier to write an emulator from scratch.by I.S.T. - Homebrew General

QuoteVideogamerQuoteArikado@CLXrsist On the computer - through a site that lets you download those isos (DON'T SAY THAT, IT'S PIRACY) Onto the SanDisk - copy, paste or send Onto the Wii - install the emulator, put the isos in a special folder in the root If you want to get the game on your computer LEGALLY you will put your STORE BOUGHT Sega Saturn disk in the computer (thisby I.S.T. - Homebrew General
There's more to the PS1 library than RPGs, you know. My favorite genre, yes, but there's plenty of not that expensive games for it that are wonderful. Here are some examples that all sell for well below their price when they were first released back in the day: Also, FF7 is most certainly not rare. It's just in massive demand, especially after the variousby I.S.T. - Offtopic
Lots of misconceptions here. First off, a CPU being 64 bit does not automatically make it more powerful than a 32 bit CPU. It just means it can work on bigger numbers and address a larger amount of RAM(To over-simplify it a bit). Second, the Wii does not have the power to do PS2 emulation. It's barely double a GC, which wasn't that much more powerful than the PS2. Not only that, bby I.S.T. - Offtopic
