QuotestrongfanThose are both first person games. The registered version of gamemaker has limited 3d support(with the help of d3d) and one of the easiest 3d games to make with gamemaker is an FPS. So naturally, making that kind of game would be almost a piece of cake. Were you refering to UT3? I don't think it would be a piece of cake, it would likely be a hellish brick of death projectedby WiiPhlex - Homebrew General

the problem with people making games in BASIC is those who program effectiently and put in much more work with a language like C++ is that they may not get the credit they deserve. One thing that may require hundereads of lines in C++ may only take one horribly inefficent function call in BASIC, therefore, it is bad for the scene. Lua was released on the wii yes, although it only has a very smby WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
If you are only just learning C++, there is little point in explaining it, once you get to the stage where you can confidently program, then would be the appropriate time.by WiiPhlex - Coding
Simply using the name is enough to breach copyright, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't go down well with the publisher.by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
This is not a yes no question. The syntax is the same. Some libs are differnet. for example, you will need to learn functions to use the wii mote, initialize video systems etc. learning on PC first as you are is the best option in my opinion.by WiiPhlex - Coding
Can you suggest an alternate method other than a rebuild to just 'update' it?by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
Would have to be programmed and rebuilt.by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
consider this then, if it's happening with a language such as C++, what's going to happen if basic is supported? Programmers are much lazier these days (the newer ones that is) due to the additional power that modern hardware offers.by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
why not use devkitpro or another IDE? It would make it much easier. If you are only just learning C++, learn it on PC first. It is much less complicated (to some degree), there is less work to be done to get words on screen for example, these are the first steps you will take, after that, the syntax is exactly the same no matter where you take your C++ (I've said this a lot). So yeah.. up toby WiiPhlex - Coding
They are the only ones I know of, I have done a couple of tutorials on C++ and libwiisprite -> Usually the only tutorials you will find are pieces of example code for a lib or something. I suggest looking at the examples that are in devkitpro, they aren't that difficult really. If you have questions about them post here, but every part of the examples is commented on where necisarby WiiPhlex - Coding
BASIC would be bad for the scene. Similar thing happened with lua on the PSP, because it was a fairly easy language to pick up, a lot of people started learning to program. I have no objection to this, but when things are easy to do, people often learn bad ways of doing things. To further this, the noobs were teaching even noober people ways of doing stuff that was horribly inefficient and thereby WiiPhlex - Homebrew General

As I don't have a wii I cannot test this, but someone who tested for me says this doesn't work, and I honestly don't see why, I have the image at the given directory, it compiles under GCC with no warnings and obviously no errors, I have checked and double checked again, I had to make it so simple just to see if I could even get an image on screen, but this simply won't work,by WiiPhlex - Coding
Um I didn't say I wanted free private file hosting. QuoteWiiPhlexCan we get support for attaching files and to PM's please? I'm not asking for 10gb each or anything just a few mb's, but if you are that against it don't worry.by WiiPhlex - Feedback & Support
Perhaps on the wiibrew forums :o or in the help wanted section on www.gamedev.net or on the wiibrew help sectionby WiiPhlex - Homebrew General

Depends how you define real games, I'd like to see someone make a game like ut3 or crysis in GameMaker ;)by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
Hey, thanks heaps, I was dreading images lol, now it's done :) Admins, This topic is done it's duty.by WiiPhlex - Offtopic
It's not too hard all things considered given that every object in wiiPhysics is individual and has an "alive" parameter that decides what happens to it in simulation. I think your idea is very reachable, you just need to find someone to put your ideas into code :)by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
LOLDSFAN, hey I just noticed you ( I assume you ) has added more! Thanks! I was dreading adding all of those diagrams, be sure to add youself in the credits for posting so much of it up for me :)by WiiPhlex - Offtopic

I don't have a wii but isn't there a web browser? You could just go to sites that host the radio streams an access them that way.by WiiPhlex - Homebrew General
I keep getting an error saying "expected unqualified-id before 'if'" Heres the code: #include #include #include "menu.h" #include "gfx/menu_screen.h" using namespace wsp; Sprite sprite; Image image; if(image.LoadImage(menu_screen) != IMG_LOAD_ERROR_NONE)exit(0); when I remove the if statment it compiles fun (under GCC) although I need to load the image. @Arikado cout simply does work.. people usually use printf because they cbf trying to figure it out (not that hard). change #include to #include now we have the C++ io lib instead of the C one. Then you can call cout if you have the cursor set. Top right hand corner would set it like this: cout << "\x1b[2;0H"; Description from devkitPro hell world example (templateby WiiPhlex - Offtopic

I doubt there is one that uses libwiisprite, but why would it matter if it was libwiisprite anyway? It would use a graphics library that updated the x and y pos anyways so it would be pretty much the same.by WiiPhlex - Coding
If you want to do C++ on wii, learn it for computer first. It's more straight forward and the theory is the same. I would recommend www.cprogramming.com www.cplusplus.com and www.gamedev.net they all contain articles for begginers right through to advanced graphics, physics and ai on gamedev. There's a number of functions for getting the number of milliseconds, nanoseconds and clicks that have occured since the function executed and then determine what a section of the program does after that length of time, but this may be very difficult to figure out and I can't recall the functions.by WiiPhlex - Offtopic
