Quotedaniel_c_w To clear the details: That was Nintendo Of America (Redwood), right? Yep.by zipperdoyle - FixMii
I recently returned my wii to the big N for the following problem: Within a day after receiving the unit they simply sent a refurbished unit (albeit one that you can't install bootmii as boot2) the following a day. My Wii obviously had a different problem, but I told them that I was "updating the wii firmware and it stopped working a day later". They charge a flat rate to fix the Wii aby zipperdoyle - FixMii
So if I want to use the preloader I'm assuming I need to do an update (via Nintendo) to 4.0? I'm assuming this will not break my existing HBC, etc, but recommendations would appreciated. I just wish the system they sent me would allow me to install bootmii as boot2. It's not fun having the system which I can only install it as an IOS. Thanks, ZDby zipperdoyle - Getting Started
Hmm maybe I'll just stick with 3.3. I'm assuming it's at 3.3v2 though as this was refurbished unit sent back to me. Since Bootmii will not install at boot2 should I install it in IOS and try installing preloader as well? I'm assuming I'm out of luck if I brick this thing. ZDby zipperdoyle - Getting Started
Thanks for all of the great feedback. My system was returned with firmware 3.3u on it (forgot to mention this unit was sent back by the big N as a replacement ). Should I just install HBC on 3.3u or should I install the 4.0 firmware through Nintendo and then install HBC? I know it's easier to get on 3.3u but was wondering if there were benefits of having a 4.0 system. I loaded up hackmiby zipperdoyle - Getting Started
Noob question, I have a virgin Wii that is at 4.0 and I need guidance on installing the HBC channel. I've seen some lengthy guides on installing HBC where you install/downgrade different IOS Wads (lot of steps). Can I not just use bannerbomb and load up hackmii to install HBC? Looking in the sticky on the forum that's what it recommends doing. On my older Wii, that is no longerby zipperdoyle - Getting Started
Need some feedback on what do with my replacement Wii. I simply want to install the HBC and the USB loader on my new system. I sent my launch day Wii back to the big N due to a hardware failure and they are sending me back a refurb LU61xxxx unit. I'm assuming it will updated to the latest and greatest firmware. I was going to try doing the bannerbomb exploit and then install hackmii.by zipperdoyle - The Junkyard
QuotewiiguyHold on. You said you have bootmii, right? If so, can you boot into HBC? I used to be able to load up Bootmii and I used a previous working Nand restore point. It saved in the Nand correctly but I still had the black screen. Now when I start up the Wii it does not send a signal to my TV anymore so I don't see the Bootmii screen. Edited Out I'm probably going to callby zipperdoyle - FixMii
One thing I forgot to mention is that the TV input signal never changes over to the Wii. I have an component and the original wii video cables. I've tried both, which used to work, but the TV is still waiting for a signal. Other gaming systems work on the TV so I know it's not the TV. For some reason the Wii is not sending a signal. Here is the history: About two weeks ago I started with 2.0U (launch day Wii) system and installed HBC and Bootmii in Boot2 using zelda hack. Played for a few days and installed updated to 3.2U using the downgrader. Everything worked okay, except for the pre-loader, so I updated to 4.0U using Waninkokos update. It worked fine for about 2 days and then I was playing a WAD game that when I exby zipperdoyle - FixMii
