Thanks for the info guys. I am going to be testing these out later this evening or tomorrow and will post the results. :Dby elstado - Getting Started

Please note I am a complete noob too, so wait for confirmation of my suggestions: 1. "AnyRegionChanger" 2. No. You can also softmod/install HBC on your Wii, especially newer firmware/models, using the BannerBomb hack via the BootMii installer package. 3. Yes, you should just be able to delete it from the Wii channels. As I said, dont take my word as gospel. But it should be all dandy.by elstado - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarWiiSX is the best PS1 emulator AFAIK, and I don't think there is a decent N64 one yet, Wii64 is anticipated as going to be the best I think. Awesome. I'll check out WiiSX. There was a N64 emulator on that vid posted earlier, I think that was credited as Wii64. Is that not "ready" yet?by elstado - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoQuoteelstadoMight be, which one's do you recommend? I see on the apps list on the HomeBrew wiki there are a few. For playing (almost) any type of media file or dvd's (provided you have DVDX installed) check out MPlayerCE : For radio, WiiRadio : Cool. I'll install those two this weekend. Yeah I have DVDx installed, did it when I installed HBC using the BootMiiby elstado - Getting Started
QuoteArikadoWhether or not ROMs are illegal depends mainly on whether or not you own the original game as well as specific software laws in your country. While we will not link to sites that distribute ROMs, it only takes 5 seconds of googling to find one. Also, there can be some wholly original legal ROMs (like homebrew NES Games developed with a homebrew SDK). I am in Australia, apparently thby elstado - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarI haven't made any homebrew. I am currently trying to learn to program, and then maybe I'll make something. Which I guess males my slagging of Waninkoko even worse. Ah-hah, so I see. QuoteBut running games/apps from HBC isn't COMPLETELY brick safe. If you stick to safe games and apps, you should be fine. For example, if you get homebrew browser and get your homebrewby elstado - Getting Started
I am also a beginner, but from what I have gathered over the past few days is what you said: QuoteIf you're on 3.2, then stay there because you have SO MANY more options" and "If your on 3.3 or higher, you might as well update to 4.x if you want to. I would just leave it as-is if I were you. Do you know if have an older model Wii that supports a boot2 installation of BootMii?by elstado - Getting Started
QuoteMattManIn fact, he is working on a quite revolutionary NAND emulator right now, that doesn't sound like "a thin wrapper around others' work" to me. It would allow the ultimate brick protection, because nothing would ever be installed to the NAND. Unfortunately, this remarkable tool will probably open even more doors for piracy. I am actually really looking forward to this cominby elstado - Getting Started
And where has this thread gone? Discussing the merits of a certain programmer? Let's get back on topic please people. QuoteArikadoDo you even know what an emulator is? Yeah... I hear those are pretty "revolutionary" -- Especially the PS1 emulator WiiSX Yeah I have a few on my PC, a N64 one and a SNES one. Pretty good to get some of my old games going again, though nothing beats playiby elstado - Getting Started
Hi all, again. So my last thread was moved to the graveyard because I mistakenly broke forum rules. (Sorry!:) Anyway, I recently installed Home Brew Channel and DVDx onto my Wii (FW: 3.4e, SN: LAH11) the other day. I used the bannerbomb exploit and the BootMii package to install HBC and DVDx. Was playing around with HBC and managed to install HB Browser, and using that I downloaded and iby elstado - Getting Started
People in this forum use the term "fail" too often. EDIT: What I was trying to say was give people a break. PS- Have a look around Link Removed instead OP.by elstado - FixMii
Quote2) Any I think Just to point out to OP, you need either HBC or the latest Wii firmware installed to be able to recognise/use SDHC card, aka any SD card 4GB or larger.by elstado - Getting Started
QuoteSifJarYes, preloader will work, provided you have trucha bug in IOS 36. Which you dont. And there are ways to get it, but I dont think they're supported here I'm afraid. Why not? I see nothing in the forum rules about "trucha bug in IOS 36".. only stuff about warez/backups/piracy stuff. If all you want to do is get a brick reducing or recovery program working I don't seeby elstado - Getting Started
QuoteBootMii as IOS cannot restore NAND dumps, and can't be accessed in a brick. Not at all? Not even with Preloader installed? QuoteBackup loaders aren't supported here. Ok. QuoteThose WADs sound like they have been downloaded from the internet, not using NUSD, making them illegal. Illegal to forum rules or illegal breaking real laws? Hi all, Another HBC/WiiBrew noob here. :) I have been reading up on homebrew and softmodding my Wii for a couple of months, but up until only recently I had no luck (previously tried the Twilight Hack a while back but it wouldn't load properly so I gave up for a while). I am currently using a Wii with the following specs: -Firmware 3.4e. -S/N LAH11 (I heard that this S/N can be pby elstado - The Junkyard
So what other brick-protecting and recovery programs can we use if we have the newer models Wiis? Preloader? Crossing fingers? :Pby elstado - Getting Started
So let me get this straight, BootMii wont be able to protect/restore my new model Wii installed as a IOS?by elstado - BootMii Beta
Thanks for this thread. Was going to make a similar one. I'm in the same boat, I am a Windows/Hardware enthusiast, so overclocking and tweaking is no hassles, but all this HBC and Wii hacking stuff/jargon is driving me mad. I just want my GFs recently new Wii to be pimpin and just work. I am hell scared of bricking it haha. Wish me luck.by elstado - Getting Started
Hi all, I was going to create a similar thread, but saw this and thought it would be OK to hijack. :D I am currently running firmware 3.4e and only just recently installed HBC + DVDx using bannerbomb via the BootMii installer (but haven't actually installed BootMii yet as I was unsure if it was OK to install as a IOS). My question, similar to OP, is that is it a good idea to updateby elstado - Getting Started
