The simple solution is to make a NAND backup after every title bought and downloaded.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotemaster5o1How do you delete an IOS? Not that I'm particularly interested in doing so at this stage. You can use Any Title Deleter, but it's always recommended that you know exactly what you are doing before you do so.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotedanmed@diffikolt, thanks for the info.. i'm still completely confused by the whole preloader / bootmii thing and whilst i realise they are 2 different ways of manipulating the Wii.. are you saying i can take a NAND backup with bootmii and if the worst comes the worst (i've been stupid and clicked stuff without reading it), i can recover from the Brick using the Nand backup via prelby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotebhast2when you are in HBC press your Home button and you will find the bootmii launcher If you have the 1.02 version of HBC. danmed, you can still do a NAND backup, so as long as you can boot to the HBC it is still very purposeful. In addition, you might consider preloader. That way, if you brick your Wii, instead of using the HBC to run Anyregionchanger, you can just load your NANDby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Bootmii will not launch your apps, as those are based on the IOS. Specific apps have to be written to be compatible with Bootmii/Mini.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
QuoteluigirocksSometimes it boots and sometimes nothing happens when there is an SD card inserted with or without bootmii. Are you using component cables, or composite? If you're using composite, have you tried setting the .INI to Video=NTSC/PAL according to your region?by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Have you tried setting the .INI to Video=NTSC/PAL (According to your region, obviously) instead of Progressive? Give that a shot, and let us know. :)by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
I personally haven't restored, but I've read reports of people intentionally bricking their Wii's and the restore working perfectly.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
You can format the system memory without losing the rights to your games. It will ask you to untie the console to the account. Don't do that, and you will keep the rights. However, if you format the system memory, Bootmii will not be removed. First you need to attempt to reinstall Bootmii. Follow these steps. 1. Backup any important files on the SD card. 2. Reformat the card using Fatby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
QuotepokeglobeWhen you are backing it up can you power off? By the speed of it, This is gonna take a month. This should not create an issue at all. You might try another backup on a different card, no reason it should take that long.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
It's relatively safe. The code has been thoroughly tested. The only real danger is a power failure.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
QuoteDrMarioQuoteBoredomUpdating to 4.0 will definately not do anything to bootmii. However, future updates may. Is it known if system menu 4.0 can install updates automatically without your permission which may lead to one that removes bootmii? In the EULA, it says that they can, but nothing such as that has happened just yet. Your best bet is to turn off WiiConnect24 unless you need it specifby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
QuotesephkI haven't installed BooMii yet, though the testing does say that I can install all 3 items. What I would like to understand is how will an installed BootMii upgraded in future. Would it need to be reinstalled on boot2 overwriting the previous install? Or would only the SD card files will need to be replaced? ----------------- Late 2007 US Wii, System Menu 4.0, HBC installed wiby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotenik69Just to be sure -- I can still overite HBC 1.0.2 with 1.0.1 even tho my Wii is 4.0 menu? Yeah, no issues whatsoever.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
The backup utility is located inside of Bootmii, thus to backup the NAND, you would have to install Bootmii first. It's a relatively safe hack, as long as there is no immediate danger of power failure...(Bootmii installs in seconds...) Uninstallation will be available soon, although I have no idea why you would ever want to remove it. You can probably even find a way to install a freshby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Not yet. IOS is responsible for networking right now. However, programs could be written in MINI that would allow network access, one would think.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
The NAND verifies itself, if you let it continue running.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Do you have 2 SD cards? Assuming so, your best bet is to just leave the Bootmii files on one. If you need to restore NAND, go to that feature in Bootmii and before you click it, switch out the SD card with the one that has NAND.bin. :)by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotenik69Yeah I`ve got the same problem. A 4gig card that worked with 1.0.1 now doesn`t work with 1.0.2. Is it possible to downgrade the HBC and if so how? Do you have a non-SDHC card? If so, add an apps folder to it and put the original HBC there. It will install just fine.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Old policy definitely remains for now, but TT is looking into it.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
That's...interesting, to say the least. As is always the first step, try again with a different SD card... With the Wii powered off completely, insert the card and turn on the Wii.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Not much for now, but the NAND backup itself is pretty useful as long as you can get back into HBC. Now, instead of having to install a fresh copy of 3.2, 4.0, etc. you can keep all of your hacks and everything with the NAND backup. More will come soon, as Bootmii IOS allows MINI to run as an IOS.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Yes, installing it as IOS even with Preloader or cIOS installed creates no issue. However, considering most, if not all, cIOS are used for the purpose of piracy, I recommend that you do not discuss them on this board in the future.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
No problem at all. :) Again, glad I could help.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Probably not...if boot2 were somehow corrupted, or written over by Nintendo to prevent the Bootmii hack, Bootmii would not work anymore making the NAND backup useless. Interesting question though.by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Have you tried using a different SD card?by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quoteniko86QuotediffikoltGreat question. I'm assuming the chances of the bad blocks being the location of what is causing the brick will be slim to none, so even if it can't write to that area, it should still recover the Wii. Also assuming NAND degradation is the same with any product...different with each and every NAND. I don't think you totally get what i mean. I know allby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
Quotejuggalo4894Hmmmm, bear in mind that I in no way know what I'm talking about but seeing as how it's all software, wouldn't it be possible to cause the wii to boot a file before boot1. just a shot in the dark but the question is bugging me. Not at all. When you push the power button, the Wii takes these steps. Loads boot0<-- Read only, cannot be changed. Loads boot1<by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
No problem at all. Glad I could help. :)by diffikolt - BootMii Beta
As far as boot1, no, it will never be possible to work around. As quoted, "boot1, although stored on the NAND, is signed by a value in write-once memory and therefore cannot be changed." As far as the IOS version, it in no way will hurt your Wii to leave the IOS installed. As time passes and updates come, it will still serve as somewhat of a brick protection, and will still allow different forby diffikolt - BootMii Beta
