PatchMii IOS Downgrader Problem

I have been following a video that I downloaded alongside all the stuff I need to hack my Wii and I have managed to install the Homebrew Channel and have moved onto the steps to downgrade and eventually install the Wii Backup Launcher.
The problem is that when I go to use PatchMii IOS Downgrader its says "initializing network" for about 20 seconds and then I very briefly get a message that says something along the lines of "I need to connect to a network to download IOS" after which I am sent back to the loadmii menu. I have a wireless connection and have tested it several times to check that it is working (and it is). I am very confused as to why this is happening.

Can any body help me?

We don't support the backup launcher or downgraders here. Downgraders often don't work, so there is, in truth, no reliable way to downgrade. If your version of the System Menu is too new for what you want to do, that's too bad.

I am a complete noob, so is there anything you would suggest I do in order to play backup games?
