Dop-MII help
May 23, 2012 05:09AM
Hi everyone,

I bought a preowned wii, and the old owner probably messed up IOSs. I want to make it factory defaults, but when i try to update it through the settings, it states an error and tell me to look at nintendo forum... So, i heard that it could be done through dop mii, but i must know how showld a good SysCheck look like.

Thanks in advance

You should install Bootmii as boot 2 (Not as ios!!!) if you've an older Wii :P (To avoid most bricks with dop-mii)

[wiibrew.org] (Bootmii)

Try to hold the reset button when your wii is booting. (Maybe Priiloader is installed) (Priiloader hacks can block wii updates...)

[wiibrew.org] (Priiloader)

But why do you want to do that?

In either case, this wii is messed up. Suppose i keep using it with all the cios it has, some games are not working nicelly. Black screens and stuff, so how about we take a look at syscheck results?

The IOS that say "no patches" are OK. The rest should all be replaced with the latest versions via dop-Mii, except IOS60. Install the oldest version of that IOS. (Otherwise your Wii will be bricked). The IOS with numbers >200 are all cIOS and can be deleted, they're basically just for piracy. With the exception of IOS254, which is BootMii/IOS, and should be left as it is.

Before doing all this, see if you can install BootMii/boot2 with HackMii Installer, messing with IOS can potentially be dangerous. If you mess up IOS60, your Wii will be bricked and not function at all. Messing up any other IOS shouldn't cause a huge problem, it's just a case of reinstalling, but a broken IOS60 with SM 4.0 will mean the Wii will not boot at all. If you don't like that idea, you should possibly leave IOS60 as it is, it shouldn't be a huge issue.

As for the official update not working, that is quite possibly due to a Priiloader hack. As mentioned above, you can hold reset while the Wii boots to access Priiloader and disable the hack. But an update won't completely set your IOS back to normal, whoever did this to the Wii has patched some IOS in a particularly stupid crappy way so that they won't be removed by an official update.

By the way, suppose i want to use patched ioss, this place is probably not the best place for asking for help, right?

We do not support patched IOS here, so no. If you do want to use patched IOS, I implore you to do plenty of research and learn exactly what every patch does and why you would need it before installing it.

Wiibrew is definatly not the place to ask about patched ios. You should keep in mind that there is brick potential when messing with ios less than 200. If your not sure what those ios do and such you might want to leave well enough alone as your syscheck looks functionaly fine. I imagine that your games loading to black screen are being loaded in a way unsupported by wiibrew. As Naughx said, your update is being blocked by priiloader. Generally it is good to block updates with priiloader, that is why we install it. I would suggest leaving your wii alone as you don't fully understand what you have installed, or possibly ask your questions to those who told you to install it. Like I said, your syscheck looks functionally sound, so messing with your ios when you don't know why or what benefit it will bring is not a very good idea.
