What are Hollywood and Starlet, and what do they have to do with eachother?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, i am helplessly n00bish. :(

Hollywood is the GPU, the graphics processor that handles drawing 2d and 3d objects to the screen.
Starlet is a separate core built into Hollywood that acts as a the I/O bridge or Input Output gate keeper. If a program wants to access the DVD, Wifi, controllers, etc... it has to ask Starlet. Starlet runs in a locked down mode when gamecube games are playing, which stops gamecube homebrew from accessing Wii features.

IOS that you hear all about is the Input Output System that runs on Starlet.

Trivia: Hollywood as an official and well known codename, but Starlet is a nickname from the homebrewscene.
Nobody expected Starlet to even exist. In some video either Marcan or bushing said, that even Wii game developers did not know about it.
