SD card is prepped right, yet no apps

Hey all,

I've just installed the homebrew channel (1.0.3) on my wii (4.1) and used the same SD card, made the apps folder in all lower case, then a folder name, then the boot.dol file and nothing, just the bubbles. I tried a USB thumb drive as well - nada. I went through the FAQ and triple checked everything.

\apps\folder\boot.dol

I tried a few different apps, nothing is working. Any pointers??

the apps folder is in the root? ("stupid" question, I know)
Can the card still be used to install the HBC?
Can the Wii access it?

Double triple check it's boot.dol by right clicking on the boot.dol and choosing to view it's properties.

Make sure it's not Boot.dol, BOOT.dol, boot.dol.dol, or BoOt.dol

yes, it's in the root folder
I used this card to install HBC, so yes.
If I just go to channels and select SD card - the wii locks up on me.

Yep, no caps and not .dol.dol

and windows says it is a dol file?

(I am sorry to treat you like a noob, but I am just trying to be sure, that the filename is right. Do you have "hide extensions from known filetypes on"?)

And there's only one folder in between apps and the boot.dol, right?

And apps is in all lowercase, right?

And apps is in the root of your SD Card, right?

Yes yes yes yes yes....

I have show file extensions turned on, I understand - no direspect taken, I just want this to work. I have an MCSA so I do know a thing or two about computers, I just can't get the wii homebrew to see the apps.

Anyway, a buddy of mine is bringing over a different SD card - will see if that works. I've also tried formatting it in FAT16 and FAT32, I can get into the hackmii installer fine, I've installed DVDx and Homebrew channel from this SD card.

OK - My friend came over with the SDcard that works with his wii HBC - I took it out and placed it into my wii and no apps are appearing. What can I do? I had 4.1 then installed HBC 1.0.3 with bootmii/bannerbomb and installed homebrew channel. Homebrew channel itself loads fine, but any apps that appear fine in a different wii - doesn't work with my wii. help.

OK - Just tried using all caps in apps, so it's now APPS and that made it work....weird.

Hmmm.... That is weird.....

How did you install the HBC?

That made it work? Hmm, thats very odd. Usually if it isn't in lower case it wont work.

ahh... i think i know. Are you perhaps using a micro sd (or mini) with an adapter?

I was using a microSD with adapter, however, that never worked regardless - The all caps I was referring to was with my friends 1GB Kingston SD card.

I have heard of you having to have all caps with an adapter in another thread so I was just wondering.

If you downloaded it in a compressed file, did you uncompress it? I don't know if that would do anything but you can check....
