Programmers notepad error

how do you fix error cant find file specified on programmer notepad devkit pro

i need step by step instructions

i have windows Xp

What file? If you're trying to open a file to edit, it sounds like it doesn't exist.

im using wii example template
i renamed it to helloworld
like it says on how to develop homebrew apps guide

What is the exact error you are getting? The problem most likely is that there is a problem with the location of the template/helloworld folder. If there is any spaces then it wont work. (ex. C:/Documents and Settings/user/documents)
If there are spaces then you will need find a new location for your homebrew apps. I would suggest creating a homebrew directory in the root of the C drive.

i then get a Pnps file
C:/HOMEBREW/Helloworld it has no spaces in the location

Try reinstalling DevkitPro. There is a problem in your path which can best be fixed by reinstalling.

because i only have programmer notepad and wii example installed

make sure you install devkitPRO. you can find the full windows installer here. In the installer make sure you select to install devkitPPC.
DevkitPro is a collection of utilities that make it possible to program for various hacked systems including devkitARM for gba and nds, devkitPSP for the psp, and finally devkitPPC for the wii and gamecube.
