Quotebg4545How am I being obnoxious? Just because I'm disagreeing with you? Er, no, but let's just let it drop, continuing this is a waste of our time, and the key information has already been conveyed.by dashxdr - Ideas, requests
QuoteSifJarAlso, if someone doesn't have a PC, what are they gonna use the models they make for? Oh, I don't know. Just off the top of my head: Imagine a virtual world like Second Life, only it's open and free and anyone can add their own models and textures without having to pay money for the privilege. And 2nd, imagine that this virtual world is powered using P2P architecturby dashxdr - Ideas, requests
Quotebg4545We're not obnoxious, we just expect users to do some research/reading before asking anything. NEWS FLASH: You are obnoxious. And another thing, I already did a lot of searching to see if a Wii port of blender had been done. And I came up with nothing. So just to make sure, I posted a very simple question. And got tons of rude opinion, completely unasked for, and the post was movby dashxdr - Ideas, requests
Quotebg4545If you feel that way then do it yourself. I agree with SifJar that if someone's going to model they should use a PC. The Wii is not powerful enough for that kind of thing. Do you know, if you read carefully you'll see I was merely asking if someone had already done it, not asking for someone to do it. And SifJar was the one that moved the original post to this particular "rby dashxdr - Ideas, requests
QuoteSifJarNo. There's no point IMO. Serious modellers won't want to use a Wii to model, What if the person wants to model but doesn't have a PC? I hate to say it but your comment sounds a bit snobbish. I'd think one of the benefits of the Wii and WiiBrew is as an enabling technology.by dashxdr - Ideas, requests

QuotedashxdrI'm trying to port some simple programs under SDL to the wii, but I never get any events at all back. The issue was I wasn't calling SDL_JoystickOpen(0) during initialization. I'm trying to port some simple programs under SDL to the wii, but I never get any events at all back. No events of any kind. I get graphics output, screen updates, the programs run fine, just no events. If I hold the power button on the Wii remote for a few seconds, the Wii powers down, that's the limit of the user input I can manage. QuotetueidjA USBGecko doesn't use the wii's USB ports (unless you're doing it wrong). It uses the EXI bus which doesn't really require any background management. Ah! Good point. I was thinking USB meant plugging the USB end into the Wii, not the host computer one is developing on. Thanks for the correction.by dashxdr - Software
QuoteSkizoJust a pointer for this kind of thoughts. In the very same moment, using a WiFi or any other similar connection of the kind, that, as you say, "halt the CPU and browse around", the WiFi itself will stop working, because you see, to process the WiFi/Ether packets, you DO need the CPU. As SifJar said, go with Gecko. Gecko seems to have been discontinued. Incidentally, the managemeby dashxdr - Software
I'm wondering if a Wii debugger exists or could be made that could be active while a program is operational? It'd be nice to be able to freeze the CPU, look around memory, disassemble code, single step, but breakpoints, stuff like that. It seems to me some sort of terminate but stay resident approach could work, maybe some sort of Wifi packet mechanism could be used for communicationby dashxdr - Software
QuotedancinninjaYes, There is! ... Front-facing on the Wii is the opposite direction ... Thanks for your answer! BTW I did get the reading out of the screen to work, and captured a 640x480 image, which I used to update the wiibrew.org page for jewels.by dashxdr - Coding
QuotedashxdrIs there an equivalent to glReadPixels? I want to be able to capture the video buffer for a screenshot. I found mention of GRRLIB_Screen2Texture for a bloom effect which might serve, I found this section of code: /** * Make a snapshot of the screen in a texture WITHOUT ALPHA LAYER. * @param posx top left corner of the grabbed part. * @param posy top left corner of the gby dashxdr - Coding

Is there an equivalent to glReadPixels? I want to be able to capture the video buffer for a screenshot. The sense for GX_CULL_FRONT and GX_CULL_BACK seem to be the opposite of OpenGL, and none of the example code seems to use culling. Does anyone have any insight into this? In the jewels game I just ported I turned on GX_CULL_BACK but I had to reverse the order of all vertices in the trianglesby dashxdr - Coding
