hey wiibrew forum! my work in progress on-rails-starfox-like asteroid dodging game; (13mb) written using in grrlibby owen - Testing Corner
I had to search the home page for 2019 because the forum does a poor job of highlighting new posts! But alas such is the state of the scene maybe it will get a boost in 20 years when all the servers get shut down for all this new online based consoles. Eitherway I still pump out some new wii homebrew stuff from time to time. Current working on updating NA but you can see my newer stuff on my wby owen - Offtopic
Aww yes it works perfect now. I actually was running hbc 1.1 and it never updated itself. Feels refreshing to run something new on the old white box! :) So if you are having this problem just make sure your hbc is updated allong with your bootmii.by owen - BootMii Beta
I know this is a old thread but I have the same issue. I got annoyed with pressing A everytime and booted up my 001 wii so I tried switching to HBC in the bootmii config. The wii turns on but no video. not sure what the issue is. HBC is installed and works fine.by owen - BootMii Beta
@MegaSuperab I have one game that I am working on but my dev cycles are pretty long so it wont be playable until next year the earliest :( follow me @newogame my older stuff is on;by owen - Homebrew Applications
compile one of the examples before trying to run your own code. when you get the example to work then you can just use the example as a base (I don't think all the Wii examples work but try them all). You can also edit your project make file to send dols over the network to your wii for quick testing (saves the work of copying to sd card).by owen - Coding
What's causing it? I only get the error if I stop requesting new connections for a minute. And after it happens I can't reconnect. Only way I can reconnect Is by exiting my app.by owen - Coding
I can connect and load a webpage fine (for my leaderboards) but if I stop making connections for more than a minute and then try again I get a -126 result from s32 socket = net_socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP); I am not sure if this only happens to me on my router or if that is how the wii networking operates. How do I keep it alive? I don't really need to be constantly loadingby owen - Coding
Its so annoying that the hbb doesn't update anymore (especially for new homebrew apps), the centralized setup really needs to be simplified to reduce the amount of manual work involved in maintaining it. I was working on an interface to scrape the info directly from the wiki but now the dev community is too small for it to even matter. at least the rss still works;by owen - Homebrew General
Will u attempt to do shadows?by owen - Coding
found this sometime ago. its in Spanish be easy to translate;by owen - Coding
@bg4545 can the wii homebrew even see the adapter is connected?by owen - Homebrew General
I did a whole lot of tests and I'm still not sure if it works perfectly but here is my connect function(if you want the whole code file you can send me a email); static s32 initialise_network() { s32 result; while ((result = net_init()) == -EAGAIN); return result; } static int wait_for_network_initialisation() { if(network_on==true) return 0; if(http_debug)by owen - Coding
I've finally gotten a chance to compile some of the samples so that they can easily be downloaded and run. Tried updating the wikipage but no luck. anyway here is the link to the download; ( 8md download )by owen - Homebrew General
Awww nice, I can see the differenceby owen - Coding
looks sharp. what does it look like without mipmapping?by owen - Coding
Load each texture before draw or use a big texture atlas. See which method gives best results.by owen - Coding
Or maybe you could have a big texture map. Or load each texture only before it us drawn.by owen - Coding
All I can say is the texture size should be a multiple of 2. Other than that you can look up the grrlib source code to get some hints as to why it's squished.by owen - Coding
Max 60 fps but if you do too much work it will slow down to zero, lol, so try no to take too long to draw.by owen - Coding
i think you set the GX stuff before you push the vertex info. similar to how the lights are done in this post;by owen - Coding
I think the framerate is locked at 60 but you can use this function to check the time that has passed each frame. #include // Needed for gettime and ticks_to_millisecs float temp=ticks_to_millisecs(gettime());by owen - Coding
Cool. I always like to see new wii stuff. I will test out the reallocate on one of my homebrews. I find that maintaining framerate is the biggest problem on the wii.by owen - Coding
Yeah some people have a preference for classes but I wouldn't say they are efficient when coding graphics for games. Grrlib is mad simple. Show an example of how u use realloc().by owen - Coding
this is how I displaylist #define DISPLAYLIST_MEMORY 10000 //it will crash if this value is not high enough to hold the list void *displaylist; //need one for each list u32 displaylist_ret; //need one for each list function draw_model() { engine_3dn(); GRRLIB_ObjectView( pos.x, pos.y, pos.z , 0,0,0, size_half, size_half, size_half ); if( displaylist_ret != -1 )by owen - Coding
