QuoteBoredomUpdating to 4.0 will definately not do anything to bootmii. However, future updates may. Is it known if system menu 4.0 can install updates automatically without your permission which may lead to one that removes bootmii?by DrMario - BootMii Beta
I still can't seem to get a straight answer on this but can I keep Wiiconnect24 on with FW 3.2 or was the automatic update feature secretly built into 3.2 and not used until now? Also can I still play games online without getting this update forced on me secretly?by DrMario - Homebrew General
Just to summarize/confirm/ask a few things; -I still have FW 3.2U with the patchmii shop update, I can still have Wiiconnect24 and standby connection turned on since I'm not under the FW that allows for automatic updates yet right? -Nintendo's 3.4 update disables patchmii but patchmii can still be used to fake the 3.4 update like the previous shop update? -Mii channel updater iby DrMario - Homebrew General
QuoteWii_ManicI Was just Wondering would it be possible to block the IP address of the Updates, through the router or so they couuldn't download and install. I have a sister and brother who go on the Wii as well and I Dont want them to delete my hombrew by just updating and erasing it all. They have already upgraded me to 3.3. Would It Be Possible. If you already installed the HBC you're in luck, if not your stuck. REDACTEDby DrMario - The Junkyard
I completely agree about the not buying anymore Nintendo games for a couple reasons; -WHY THE HELL WITH THEIR LAST UPDATE WOULD THEY DISALLOW US FROM LEGITIMATELY BUYING NEW GAMES IF WE DID NOT UPDATE!, luckily for Nintendo we got a work around for this, especially since pirates could simply just not update, this hurt homebrew not pirates! -3rd party wii games are always slimmed down versions fby DrMario - Homebrew General
QuoteicefireYes. Probably not. Mostly. BUT DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WII JUST USE TONA's IOS51 AND NEW SHOP CHANNEL INSTALLER (and use GeckoOS to run new games without updating)!!!!! Gecko OS? Does it disable updates by default because that isn't documented anywhere, I know you can with Menu Loader and Starfall (unsafe) but there will probably (hopefully) be something along the lines of aby DrMario - Homebrew General
QuoteDrMario edit:some apps that don't work with HBC beta 9 and need author to update are; kobo dl, Wii-Tac-Toe(already dol but still needs update, I wonder if it is really an elf with the dol extension?) I checked, kobo dl works as an elf (probably the only proper elf out there) and Wii-Tac-Toe is actually a elf renamed as a dol so you have to rename it back to .elf, run the elf to dol scriby DrMario - Homebrew General
Quotelizard81288 just to make sure, i need an internet connection to get those ios, correct? yepby DrMario - Homebrew General
Quotelizard81288Quote(I used Muzer's and a )] so i need an internet to get tona's to install correctly? yeah because tona's and muzers download the ios directly from nintendo's servers and patch it from there, if you don't have internet on your wii, I believe you can find something with patchmii or a cIOS or something (can't remember) where you can download the IOS aby DrMario - Homebrew General
It worked perfectly for me (I used Muzer's and a wired connection) Just wondering, if something happened where I needed the patched IOS51, could I just install tona's over it and will tona's method of patching work for pretty much all future IOS updates as long and Nintendo doesn't change anything major. So lets say Nintendo adds directly launching channels off the sd cardby DrMario - Homebrew General
Quotelizard81288QuoteDrMarioQuotelizard81288but i want to get MM9, so i will have to do an update correct?(the wii shop update) If your using muzer's/tona's IOS51/Shop update, then you can update whenever with HBC beta 8 or 9. Quotelizard81288so Gecko OS doesn't work with HBC 9? Gecko OS is fine, QuoteArikadoQuoteDrMarioAlso some apps like ExistenzE have only an elf and it's the final version so I can't see the creator making a new dol for it, could someone else with devkitpro do this and upload it to the wiki? Thanks It's the responsiblity of the maker of an app to go back and rerelease theiby DrMario - Homebrew General
Most apps include both dol and elf but for Gecko OS, it says the dol file is for "using on custom channels or Trucha based ISO DVDs" but is the dol still a regular dol that works on the HBC or will it suddenly install a channel on my wii if I launch it? edit: just got my answer for Gecko OS and the dol file is fine Also some apps like ExistenzE have only an elf and it's the final versionby DrMario - Homebrew General
hi, i haven't posted here in a while but I just saw this I guess now I can go but stuff for my wii again without pirating which is good new, all I really wanted is the final dlc pack for megaman 9. About this IOS 51 installer, Has anyone tried it yet and how well does it work? Which one should I use or what is the difference? QuoteAzza123QuotestrongfanI think they have something like that on Wii Ware called Defend Your Castle. They also have that same game on the Xgen website, acccessable internet channel. So, there's really no point in that yet. Defend Your Castle is much different... And in reply to th second part, that's a stupid reply. Honestly. Yeah I agree with this, it was posted a while back also, I think eventually as we get more homebrew applications, they won't have much of a choice and we will need the folders so it will probably be implemented eventually.by DrMario - Homebrew General
Even though the xbox's specs were slightly less than the wii's, the online was much better and the graphics still a little better and I cannot see the wii ever supporting the online experience xbox did. Also why would you even need an xbox emulator for the pc, most of the games are still available and have been ported to the PC for purchase (most are about $15-20 now)by DrMario - Homebrew Applications
I don't know why so many people complain about vista, it's 98% perfect for me and I had it for a year (not 100% but neither is XP, nor mac, nor Ubuntu). For the people who expect to run vista fine on an old PC, when XP first came out, did you expect to be able to run it fine on a Win 98? (reason why I said win98 and not win 2000 is because XPs life cycle was as long as both combined) Aby DrMario - Offtopic
QuoteHyperHackerIt's probably one of those silly "Wii media centre" things that's really just a Flash file and a stripped-down web server. You browse to it on the Internet Channel and hey, streaming video. Plus, obviously, a Mii extractor. yeah i don't like those things since it sends your videos/photos/music over the net and uses up bandwith, is slow, lower quality, and not as secby DrMario - Offtopic
QuotetonaQuoteXylitethats what we have hit, with a low of new ppl active in the forum, minimal homebrew being made, it seems we have hit a platue, and are stuck with simple nes style games, personally i think this compettion was a bad idea, because no one is putting any work out because they are saving it all up for the tourny The hell are you talking about? QuoteXylitei agree, i think the marathon should be same time length, but make it as many games u can beat before time is up That just gave me a great idea for a competition that we could all compete in without having to spend 67 hrs (we're not all legends like devonodev will be if he completes this) We can see who can beat the original Super Mario Bros for NES with the fastest time. k thanks, guess I'll stick to ocarina and savegame extractor and not waste my money, I've been using them without any problems for a while now so that gameshark thing is pretty much useless.by DrMario - Offtopic
Thanks, I didn't notice that about the cheats, now that I read it more closely that's all it does, I would have got it and expected it to be like Ocarina. As for copying the saves, do you just use the savegame extractor?by DrMario - Offtopic
Quotepinball WizardI agree there but will never EVER EVER touch microsoft products. I would rather use no technology at all then ever help microsoft. I can tell since that one program you are making is for mac, personally I've loved Microsoft since DOS and have had no reason to switch, I felt the same way about iPods because of Apples monopoly in that business and locking you into itunes butby DrMario - Offtopic
Quotepinball WizardI don't have too much of an opinion since I don't have any super new games BUT I prefer a cheaper system with less spec then $600 cost. I agree, the PS3 went way overboard considering all that stuff gets outdated so quickly, right now the 360 has the right combination at around $300 and has pretty good specs but didn't go overboard, I suppose the high specs alsoby DrMario - Offtopic
For me it's not so much more specs for graphics but for larger levels, better online play like Live, and I think the specs not being good enough is why metroid could not have online multiplayer. I'm kind of annoyed with Nintendo leaving out the Hardcore audience that was with them for years for this new casual audience, last time I checked people of the Hardcore audience by 10 times morby DrMario - Offtopic
which one? I once needed a video converter to convert some files but I could only find all these look-a-like converters that were all exactly the same but with slight differences and did not work well (like xilisoft and Imtoo). I eventually found one that worked but not as well as I would have liked.by DrMario - Homebrew General
Well the current wii's hardware specs are pretty much the same as the Old xbox so the next Nintendo system will probably be the same as this wii but with hardware like the 360, if you look at Nintendo's past systems, every other system is the same as the previous with only a slight hardware upgrade. SNES is basically a NES with better hardware, then the N64 they unleash 3d graphics andby DrMario - Offtopic
