Ok, a minor question: 1. How do I put the .zip file (the IOS 202 Installer.zip) into homebrew channel? If I'm using an SD card, where on the SD card do I put the .zip file? If I'm using a wireless network, what's the program to run on my computer (ppc mac, if it matters) to send it over? 2. There is both a WiiMC 1.0.4 new install, and a WiiMc Channel installer. Alright, thanks. For what it's worth: I upgraded my Mplayer CE. The old version had an interface that looked more text based than graphics based; the new one had some graphics, and a very easy/obvious open DvD menu. I tried playing Avatar. The playback kept getting stuck in various places, seemingly at random. When it got stuck, I had to hard power off the wii. In one case I got a stacby keybounce - Homebrew General
My wii came with 3.2 and boot2. (EDIT: Might have been 3.3. I had to upgrade to 3.4 to play (I think) Galaxy 1.) EDIT 2: To clarify: Boot2 V4, the one that "doesn't permit downgrading" (so how does TBR downgrade 15?). Does IoS 202 replace the need for the hidden dvdx channel? If so, how do I remove it, or do I want to leave it for something else? ... Checking homebrew browser ... Alrby keybounce - Homebrew General
Actually, the netflix disk only lets you watch the streaming downloads. Not DvD's. And I thought Mplayer CE was supposed to play DvD's. It's not for me.by keybounce - Homebrew General
What is the proper way to play a DvD on the Wii? I have Mplayer-CE installed, but I cannot find any DVD playback option, only SD card / USB support. I have the hidden dvdx channel installed. QuoteSifJarWii Fit Plus? Is that out yet? Yup. Got it at Costco. The new games are wonderful; sadly, they didn't seem to fix any of the old bugs and problems. QuoteSifJarthat could work, but afaik, you cant install a boot2 WAD with Edited Out, so it'd have to be a completely custom app. And anyway, like I said before, there is no benefit to having a downgraded boot2. Hmm, couldn't the bootmii installer install Boot2v2? It has the code in there to install a custom boot2. I have boot2 v4. I cannot downgrade (as I understand, that's prevented by V4). I need preloader or StartPatch. That requires 4.0 or 4.1. The official upgrade kills all trucha bugs, as I understand it, and some homebrew needs it. I was just told that Preloader needs it.by keybounce - Homebrew General

QuoteSifJarYou can run unsigned code on ANY wii, regardless of boot1 and boot2 versions, via expoits or HBC. Homebrew is unsigned code. As for downgrading boot2, this would do no good. I want to know how I can play a new game without having to install updates off the disk. It has to be a method that is "fool proof" -- it has to work for a person that just turns the wii on, sticks a disk in, and goes to the disk channel. Nothing special. I have a 3.4U wii, with new boot1 and boot2. I have installed the Wii Fit plus disk, so I've got some additional updated IOS's, but it still claims 3.4U. I have Bootmii IOS, HBC/HBB, and Dvdx installed (new 1.5 version). Nothing else. If I upgrade through the official update, I'll get at least 4.2, and that's potentially restrictive. So as I understand it, boot2v3 has the signing bug, boot2v4 does not. Is it possible to install an unaltered (validly signed) boot2v3 on a wii with the new boot1 and boot2v4? Would that then give us the ability to install fake-signed code on modern wiis?by keybounce - Homebrew General
