QuoteMauifrogIt is very safe, however your only risk is actually installing the channel, not running it. I already installed the emulator channels, just haven't used them. Thanks for the response Maui. I'll install Bootmii. I have never had any problems with any homebrew in the past besides the occasional code dump when using the browser. But I've also never had any channels installed besides the HBC and I've always loaded every app thru the HBC. The only HBC apps I really use are mplayer and a few emu games which Tantric so graciously created channeby SimpsonsJunkie - Getting Started
I just reinstalled the HBC and noticed that you can now install a few emulators as channels. I see in the Nintendo play log that those are logged into the system whenever you access those channels, whereas any homebrew accessed thru the HBC does not get logged including those same emulators. Is there any reason why I shouldn't access these emulators thru these new channels? I can only instalby SimpsonsJunkie - Getting Started
Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Can't justify getting a new nintendo just to match the color of the rest of my electronics if I'm going to just lose a hundred bucks in downloads. Nintendo needs to get with the times and let users create an account that links them with their VC games for life, not just the life of the console. There is about $50 in games I'd like to download, butby SimpsonsJunkie - Offtopic
1st time posting since the Piracy Notice went up and I LOVE IT. Having Long John Silver sing to me for forgetting to check the statement after previewing my message was a little much though. I'm thinking about trading my Wii in for a newer black console. I'd really prefer to transfer my Wii Shop account over to the new console but Nintendo won't let me do it. Thanks for the response everyone. The HBC usage has never appeared in my normal play log. I don't use (or even have) Gecko OS, not too interested in playing out of region games. I wasn't worried about using the nintendo channel. I am worried about Nintendo pulling a Microsoft and banning people from online play in the future. I only use legtimate discs and never have used cheat codes. Gby SimpsonsJunkie - Homebrew General
I originally installed the HBC via Bannerbomb v1 on my LU60 wii when I was on system menu 4.0. Updated to 4.1 with no problem. Bought NSMB that has the 4.1 and a half update and played that without the HBC deleting. Now a few days ago I updated to 4.2U without the HBC deleting. I do not have bootmii installed because I could only do it as an ios. Besides a few homebrew games the only thing I realby SimpsonsJunkie - Homebrew General
Hey all. I'm a newb to this scene. I mainly read through the forum comments and answers. But one thing that irritates me more than anything else is people constantly asking for help on stealing video games. The one thing I'd love to see is the BIG RED LETTERS explaining WiiBrew's anti piracy stance at the beginning of any post, right next to the author of the post' name. FIXED! The Wii apparently has something built into it that will completely shut off all power to the console if a power surge occurs. The fix is simple. Unplug the power block from BOTH the Wii and the outlet for a few minutes. Then plug back in and it should work like mine did. If it doesn't work after that, let it sit for a day or so without the power brick plugged into either the consoleby SimpsonsJunkie - FixMii
QuotevolaWii sport resort has 3.4 update in it (at least for pal). Yeah you're right, it was 3.4 also for U. 4.1 update was the patch for some Wii sports resort glitches.by SimpsonsJunkie - FixMii
Wii Sports Resort has the 4.1 update in it. If you are not getting prompted to update when inserting that disc, I doubt any of the games that have a built in update will work.by SimpsonsJunkie - FixMii
Yeah, I checked all the cords and held the power button down. I searched around online a bit and from what I'm seeing, it might have blown a fuse. Looks like I will have to send it in to Nintendo. This seems to have happened to people that had the Wii on during a power outage. The more I think about it, I don't think the HBC had anything to do with it. It just seems more like a hardwareby SimpsonsJunkie - FixMii
I've got a Wii 4.1u, with first digits of the serial # LU that has (HAD?) the HBC installed via Bannerbomb. I was using mplayerCE and pressed the home button on the wiimote, I got up to plug my laptop into the surge protector and I accidently hit the reset button on the surge protector. Everything in the outlet did a quick flash but the Wii is not getting any power now. I unplugged it and trby SimpsonsJunkie - FixMii
Thanks for your help guys. I'll check back periodically on Wiibrew for updates.by SimpsonsJunkie - Getting Started
Thanks for responding. Yeah, I believe it is a code dump. Should I reinstall the HBB? If I have the same problem after reinstallng, what should I do? I can't download any apps off the HBB. The only apps that I have installed were downloaded off the wiibrew site.by SimpsonsJunkie - Getting Started
Hi all. Just loaded the HomeBrew Channel on my wii using Bannerbomb. Have a newer wii and it's updated to 4.1. Downloaded the HomeBrew browser and connected using wifi. After a minute or so of surfing the browser, the screen goes black with an error. Have to unplug the wii to power down. I don't know if this is "the Black Screen Issue" that Arikado was refering to in his post. I didnby SimpsonsJunkie - Getting Started
