Thanks. I was just about to post that I went scrolling through the IOS's and saw the note on IOS61 and figured that was it. I'll use your post as confirmation :)by Mattroid - Homebrew General
I've been meaning to update my shop channel for a while now and finally did so today with Dop-Mii. If I remember correctly, the previous version of the shop channel was v13, and after using Dop-Mii, it said v18. Anyway, now when I try to launch the Shop Channel (after clicking Start), it just reloads the Wii Menu. I didn't see any other threads with this yet, so my apologies if itby Mattroid - Homebrew General
I have a launch day Wii with 3.2U currently, so I do have bootmii installed as boot2. I've held off on updating all this time for various reasons, but realized that I would probably use my Wii more these days if I did have the SD Menu, as you mentioned. Plus, while I've been able to convince my girlfriend to run newer games (Animal Crossing, Sports Resort, etc) through Gecko OS, I haveby Mattroid - Getting Started
How safe is the method you mentioned? Not sure if it's entirely worth it or not, but so long as I follow your steps I shouldn't be at much risk, correct?by Mattroid - Getting Started
I don't really want to update to 4.2 for obvious reasons, but I think it's about time to update to at least 4.0 if I can (I have my reasons). Is there a way to jump to one of these rather than 4.2? I hear Wii Sports Resort only has 3.4 or something on the disc, so does that mean there are no discs out there with at least 4.0 on them yet?by Mattroid - Getting Started
That was my thought, but it's just comforting to heard straight from another source - thanks. Aren't most apps that make use of fakesigning for "that which cannot be discussed"? That - I don't care about. I guess my real question is if there's anything useful (and which can be discussed) that I might miss out on? The only thing I've read in a few places is gecko os wiby Mattroid - Getting Started
Yes. All of that is already done. I'm not "new" to wii homebrew, I just haven't really kept up on every little thing or know all the technicalities of it all. EDIT: I did just find this thread which is fairly close to my own concerns. I've already got all of what I want installed, including bootmii, so I think I might just update since the SD menu would be a huge benefit for meby Mattroid - Getting Started
Now, I know a lot of you are going to think that's crazy, but hear me out. EDIT: Tell you what, let me shorten this a little more to the point...if I am on 3.2 and am considering updating to 4.1, what am I truly losing the ability to do (specifics, if you can provide them)? All my girlfriend cares about is the ability to transfer her Animal Crossing save back and forth (savegame extractoby Mattroid - Getting Started
Hmm, sorry, I wasn't aware of this. Guess I'll try updating another Wii whose owner doesn't care about homebrew to test it first. Thanks for the info!by Mattroid - Homebrew General
Since the release of menu 4.0, I've been debating doing the update since the new SD menu is a nice addition and I already have HBC installed, etc. My only concern is what I saw today on the wiki for 4.0: "Affected: Copy protected save files (On SD card); Effect: Save files that have copy protection, that were copied to the SD card through any previously patched system menus, will NOT copy baby Mattroid - Homebrew General
Looks like all went well in terms of installing IOS38. Unfortunately, the disc channel still requires the update to run the game directly. I assume this is because of the updated versions of IOS30 and IOS31. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to hope that the gf doesn't get tired of running it through GeckoOS. Hopefully the Wii Speak feature will at least work now that that's done.by Mattroid - Homebrew Applications
I'm not saying it's a "problem" (although it could be needlessly tedious), I'm just wondering if I have to do it that way or not. But that's not to mention all the other problems I've heard when trying to run homebrew with FAT32 formatted card...which is why this one struck me as odd. Right now I'm working on clearing out a second card to format with FAT32, but I felby Mattroid - Homebrew Applications
I've been running homebrew for a while now and have been on system menu 3.2 the whole time, but my girlfriend recently got Animal Crossing and doesn't really like having to go through Gecko OS to run the game. I'm afraid one of these days she'll get sick of it and update to 3.4 :P So, I was following this guide in order to install IOS38 in hopes that this would allow her toby Mattroid - Homebrew Applications
