I didn't mean the entire system just the IOS but it is still risky.

Downgrade= Dangerous and risky. Instead I'd advise modifying the app (AnyRegion Changer I assume) to run off IOS36 and use dop-IOS or dop-IOS MOD to patch ES_Identify into IOS36. AnyRegion Changer is open source right?

I know and yes follow Sif Jar's advice as it will work (i think)
Re: AnyRegion Changer

If you dont know how to modify it, I can do it. Its really easy.

...I was talking about Setting_Replace, but I'm using 3.4U (in PAL because my dumbass Wii doesn't have common sense), so will this AnyRegion Changer mod help? (since when I *try* to change the "VIDEO" setting, it just goes back to PAL) and keep in mind that I'm half blind on the Wii.

We are talking about something which requires ES_Identify, yes? If so, my method will work. If not, no it wont make a difference.

Yes, Setting_replace requires ES_Identify.

So how do you modify Setting_Replace's DOL file? Is there a S_R source out there? Or a dol unpacker? Or maybe you could do it for me?
Re: AnyRegion Changer

Setting_replace is a seperate thing? I thought we were talking about something in AnyRegion Changer. Give me a sec, I'll try and find the source. If I can find the source it is incredibly simple, but if it isnt open source, I dont think theres much I can do. I'll see what I can find.

EDIT: OK, I think its just part of AnyRegion Changer, so I've modified it, but compiling it is tricky. I have to apply some patches to libogc, but I dont know how to do that, anyone able to help?

Both were made by tona, but take a look at this:

Any Region Changer V 1.1 for the Wii

Quote

CHANGES MADE TO THE CONSOLE AREA SETTING SHOULD ALWAYS BE ACCOMPANIED BY A SYSTEM MENU CHANGE TO THE SAME REGION!
It may be a good idea to backup your setting.txt with this tool (SD card required). The setting_replace tool will also restore your setting.txt from a backup on your SD card.

That's open source. I'll upload a modification in a couple of minutes which runs on IOS36.

EDIT: It wont compile, and I dont how how to fix it. Sorry.

What if I install IOS36 on my Wii? I have the wad from another homebrew app...

WADs of IOS not obtained with NUSD = ILLEGAL, and therefore not supported here.

Backups = Not supported here

WiiGator = Not supported here

Anyway, installing an IOS36 WAD will do no good. Its easy to get IOS36 with ES_Identify. And in actual fact, you already have that version of IOS36 in your Wii (I think). I was planning to modify setting_replace to USE IOS36.

IOS36 is in 3.4U?

And I'm going to try running S_R again. Do you happen to know what buttons to press to rip Setting.txt and to replace it?

The IOS WAD is illegal unless you got it using either NUSD or WUFE. And yes IOS36 is in 3.4. Its in pretty much every system menu afaik. Its used for most first party Nintendo games, e.g. Brawl. Although you probably have a newer version than that actually. But still, its there. And no, I dont know what buttons you use. I didnt even know it existed. But I'll have a look, see if I can work it out.

EDIT: Dunno the button presses. Maybe someone else does?

In AnyRegion Changer try pressing DOWN 3 times, then LEFT or RIGHT once, and then DOWN 3 more times and press A.

This should change your Video Mode setting so you can see what you're doing.
Re: AnyRegion Changer

Okay, almost did it, just not quite.
When i follow your instructions, it refuses to do ANYTHING.
except the B button, which brings me to The Homebrew Channel.
Or does AnyRegion Changer have some sort of "safety feature" that doesn't it allow to save changes when in a semi brick?

Should I do this:

English
USA
USA
NTSC
WARNING
Revert
Save

So did you get your Video Mode changed back? Either way, those are the settings that you want.
Re: AnyRegion Changer
August 27, 2009 01:41AM
no...no matter how many times I jam on the A button, the thing just either:

A) Sits there and does nothing
B) Returns to Homebrew Channel

and there is a warning of sorts:

Quote

/!\ WARNING SYSTEM and REGION do not match! /!\

or something like that.

And every time i re-launch the AnyRegion Changer, the settings look as if they were never touched.

If you want, I can upload a video.

Hmm...
Link to illegal content on GBAFail removed

Third post down might help.

...well, I can see why you guys don't trust "GBAFail"

because all it really gave was yet ANOTHER version of Setting_Replace. >=(

There's only one good thing that came out of this, I managed, with their version of S_R, to extract a copy of the Setting.txt onto the root of my SD card. (I don't know how I did it, I really just mashed on the GameCube controller buttons)

I opened it with notepad, and all I got was gibberish.

Or maybe the ripping process failed?

I remember seeing something about, "Not System Menu"

So now at least I have a Setting.txt...of sorts.

EDIT: My friend with a NTSC-U Wii gave me a copy of HIS setting.txt. So I have a NTSC setting.txt now.
