You can't modify a 360 for homebrew if it has a kernel version above 2.0.7371. If you've used Xbox Live or played a game released in the last year chances are you're already on a non-exploitable version. Downgrading is not possible because of eFuses (upgrading burns an eFuse in the cpu, previous versions checks for a number of burned fuses and if there are more than a certain nuby Phredreeke - Offtopic
Many of the region-specific channels are joint ventures between Nintendo and other companies. For example the BBC iPlayer is only available in UK because that's the only country the BBC have broadcasting rights in.by Phredreeke - Offtopic
Excluding the N64 games, in what way does the VC releases have "better graphics"? Snes9x GX has optional graphics smoothing, VC does not. VC games bought from the european Wii Shop will run at 576i (meaning the game gets squeezed in between two black bars) while homebrew emulators will run at the intended video mode.by Phredreeke - Offtopic
Where did you get those specs from? The Dreamcast has a 200 mhz CPU, 16 mb RAM and 8 mb VRAM. It came with a built in modem, making it the first system to be "online ready" out of the box, beating the Xbox by two years. There was also a VGA cable available for it, making it the first game console to output in 480p resolution. The GD-ROM format is something of a "hack" on the CD-ROM format, theby Phredreeke - Offtopic
If they actually manage to block homebrew in 4.3 we could still just stay on the versions we are now.by Phredreeke - Offtopic
Nope. Everything on the Xbox 360 is signed. There is an exploit to run unsigned code (the JTAG hack) but that requires that you are on an old system version. Even with the JTAG hack I don't know of any cheat application for 360, I suspect you would have to hack the game's binaries yourself.by Phredreeke - Offtopic
What's an unmodified cIOS? I thought cIOS was another named for a modified IOS.by Phredreeke - Getting Started
United States is the only developed country not to have some form of publicly funded healthcare. Are you saying all other developed countries are socialist? :Pby Phredreeke - Offtopic
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the Indiana Pwns exploit on 3.4 You would install it the same way as you would on 4.2by Phredreeke - Getting Started
If you have BootMii installed you can boot directly to HBC ;) While we're on the topic of custom channels, you need to (AFAIK) have an exploitable IOS to install them, so if you have 3.4+ you're out of luck.by Phredreeke - Getting Started
No console manufacturer would ever brick someone's console because of mods. The PR backlash would be devastating. I don't think they can remove your homebrew while playing a game online either, because the system menu is the only software able to remove channels (without using IOS exploits)by Phredreeke - Getting Started
It's generally not recommended to add your own channels because of the unstable bannerloading code in the system menu causing poorly coded banners to lock up the system.by Phredreeke - Getting Started
I find it funny that the advice given on the forum is the exact opposite of what it says on the Wiibrew front page.by Phredreeke - Homebrew General
If you get a stable black and white picture then you will get a working color picture with component cables (because component cables use the same color encoding on both PAL and NTSC Wiis)by Phredreeke - Offtopic
