hmm, well with PSP, the CFW replaces OFW on the NAND, but the custom IPL allows it to run, and I'd imagine it'd work best if thats how it worked here. NAND has quicker access speed than SD card. But we could theoretically install a Custom System Menu, and use a custom boot2 to allow it to run, because the custom system menu wouldn't run if it had a regular boot2, because the boot2by SifJar - Ideas, requests

QuoteArikadoQuoteSifJarI don't think system format will get rid of softmii, cause it has IOS stuff in it. Hmm...I really dont know if there IS a way to get rid of softmii. this is why we dont use epic fail "softmod packages" System formatting doesn't touch your IOSs. (Why does everyone think that?) My point exactly.by SifJar - Getting Started
I dunno, it was mentioned earlier, but I think someone said he wouldn't need it? I assume this is incorrect and he does in fact need it?by SifJar - Getting Started
Just use Gecko OS to boot the game and it''ll install the missing/outdated IOS for you, then you'll be able to play from the Disc Channel after that. But anyway, if you're on 3.4, you may as well upgrade. It'll only take you to 4.0 at the worst, and there's nothing to lose by being on 4.0 over 3.4. Everything will still work fine.by SifJar - Getting Started
I think IOS 36 may be used by most third party games, not the System Menu, but I'm not 100% sure.by SifJar - Software
hmm, are you sure the method is legal? if so, go for it.by SifJar - Getting Started
you need to run the usb2 cIOS installer. btw, can you run other apps from HBC, or do you need told how to do that?by SifJar - Getting Started
I think he means he didn't know other countries used dollars, which does kind make him a stupid American :p. Anyway, I didn't notice the dollar sign in his first post, my bad. But about the warranty, technically, HBC is an unauthorized modification, which voids the warranty. Dunno how much Nintendo cares though, I've only heard of one isolated case where the person was charged eby SifJar - Offtopic
yes. print screen takes whole screen, alt+print screen just the active window. thanks for pointing that out.by SifJar - Offtopic
Yeah, but he's trying to get rid of it because it's dodgy, and he didn't realise that when he installed it. So I doubt mods will close the topic. But I guess they may. In which case you should ask elsewhere about removing it.by SifJar - Getting Started
ok just thought cause you mentioned mac you may be using it in boot camp.by SifJar - Offtopic
press the print screen button. takes a screenshot anywhere. (btw if you're on a mac using boot camp, print screen is f13 on mac keyboard). Then just open an image editing program and click paste or ctrl+v to paste the screenshot you just took Oh, and could you try and put a more descriptive title rather than "random question" something like "screenshoting on windows" or the like. just dump the contents of that card on the new one. everything should work fine. except perhaps bootmii. you may need to prepare the SD card again. just stick the new one in run the hackmii installer and under bootmii select prepare SD card.by SifJar - Getting Started
and also unnecessary modifications like installing/uninstalling IOS. Out of interest, if you were on 4.0, how come you could downgrade to 3.2? Did whoever updated it use an epic fail "homebrew updater"?by SifJar - Getting Started
Hmm, i'm not sure that's true. I think it only uses one. I read somewhere that the wii can only run one IOS at a time. And that would be the IOS x0, where x depends on system menu versionby SifJar - Software
Oh didn't know it saved to different blocks on different Wiis. Is it just wherever is free I assume? And I didn't think of it needing other parts of NAND to restore backup, but that's a good point. So it could be very tricky then...Unless they could move everything the restoration needs to a specific set of blocks, then ran the restoration process from there? Or would the required.by SifJar - Getting Started
Hmm, is there an app anyone knows of that lets you change internet settings? is this even possible? This part is solved I think. EDIT: HBC can't be run off SD Card, unless it is ALSO on the System. What gave you the idea that you had to run it off SD Card? Anyway, it should work fine on System Memory.by SifJar - Getting Started
Hi there. I have a question. I know bushing can manually decrypt and re-encrypt a NAND dump so it can be restored to a different Wii than it came from. But could be decrypt it, then make a program that will re-encrypt it when provided with a copy of a particular Wii's keys? That way he (or someone else) could release a decrypted 3.2 dump, and then everyone could re-encrypt it with their keysby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Perhaps they could make it two IOS, then do all the restoration with one IOS, then switch to the other and restore the first? Oh wait, if the first IOS works, why do they need to restore it? Couldn't they just restore everything apart from the BootMii IOS?by SifJar - Getting Started
Actually, 3.3 without Oct 23rd update also kills some trucha bug I believe, hence 3.2 is accepted as the latest "good homebrew" system menu. And before 4.0, not ALL IOS were fixed. It finally fixed them all. I think that's all right anyway. But on topic, the guy who posted this topic makes no sense what-so-ever. "I was a noob who updated to 4.0 as a virgin wii. No he didn't. His point was that DC specs are similar to GC specs, yet the Wii could not emulate GC well, and therefore, could not emulate DC well. And he pointed out that GC mode is not emulation. It is hardware emulation (i.e. the wii has all GC hardware, with added bits, so it just locks the extra bits and uses the GC stuff in GC mode). For software emulation, the emulating console musby SifJar - Offtopic
This would be pretty cool, but I dunno how feasible it is. One possibility is that this will open up the door for custom system menus, much like Custom Firmware on PSP. But actual plugins for the official System Menu probably aren't feasible with boot2. You'd need a modified System Menu, which should be possible now with a custom boot2 which will remove the security checks done by boot2by SifJar - Ideas, requests

QuotealainveyQuoteSifJarThis would be pretty cool I agree. It's at times like this I wish I knew how to program. I am trying to learn C++, but I doubt I'll be porting a flash player to the Wii anytime soon ;). I wrote a program which displayed an image and played some music. It even had a wiimote cursor. OK, well then you may as well upgrade. But if you install BootMii as IOS, and take a NAND dump, you can still fall back if you don't like 4.0. But you will need a GC Controller. If you have GC Controller, I'd advise you to do this then upgrade, if you don't, well, you're not going to lose anything, you may as well just upgrade without taking a dump. Although if you can get a Gby SifJar - Getting Started
