renaming the file extension will just make an unworking file i believe. as said above rename the file 'installer.elf' to 'boot.elf' and stick it in the root. then do the twilight hack or bannerbomb. but if you already have HBC, you can just run it from HBC. Just stick it in apps folder. should be at X:/apps/HackMii Installer/boot.elf where X is the letter of your SD card. Thenby SifJar - Getting Started
there isnt support for GC pad in system menu. if there was, it'd be great cause you could launch GC and n64 games without wiimote, but you can't.by SifJar - Getting Started
QuotedarthraderI just checked I have version 4.0. What options do I have? I saw I can only install files as IOS. on another post. A forum post? A forum post can't tell you you can't install bootmii as boot2. The only thing that can is the hackmii installer. although i believe Wii's with the serial beginning LU64 usually cant but i dont think that set in stone. and being on versby SifJar - Getting Started
About downloading boot2 from NUS to try and get boot2 install for BootMii - The bug used is in boot1, it's the trucha bug in fact, and boot1 is not updatable, so you can't change your boot1 version, and if you dont have a vulnerable boot1, you can't install to boot2by SifJar - Getting Started
no chain loader IS twilight hack (in a way). basically the chain loader is what twilight hack, (and maybe bannerbomb, not really sure) runs. It is the thing that runs the executable file. There is no predecessor to Twilight Hack, it was the first hack for the Wii. (not counting the poc lego star wars shown by bushing at that hacking conference but never released.)by SifJar - Getting Started
So everything is up and running now? Good to know.by SifJar - Getting Started
And with discs, you can block updates in several ways. Gecko OS, preloader and probably more. Of course online update is even easier to block, just say no, but with discs, if you dont they'll get stroppy and not boot unless you use one of those methods.by SifJar - Getting Started
No, you can't get them from NUS (Nintendo UPDATE Service) because they're not updatesby SifJar - Getting Started
thanks. I started a page on wiibrew to list all updates from all regions. it's a long process, because I'm deleting the ISO version information and so on, so if anyone wishes to help out please do. The page is at Disc_Updatesby SifJar - Ideas, requests
Yeah, like I said, no update yet has removed HBC, and there's no real proof Nintendo ever will remove HBC with an update. Although they could. But for now, it's safe to update.by SifJar - Getting Started
You can delete the private folder and boot.elf. Keep the bootmii folder for now. To make a NAND backup, turn off your Wii, then turn it on again. It should boot into BootMii. Your Wiimote will not work in BootMii. You can navigate using the Wii's front buttons or a GC controller. Press reset to scroll and power to select (i think, may be other way round). Scroll to last icon and select. Thenby SifJar - Getting Started
Then you should be sweet. See above about Gecko OS. And btw, once you install BootMii take a NAND dump with it. This means if you ever brick (which you shouldn't if you stay away from warez and piracy), you can recover relatively easily.by SifJar - Getting Started
Slightly off topic, but - the buttons are red.by SifJar - Getting Started
You just select to install it in HackMii installer, although if you have a new Wii, it won't be possible I'm afraid. Adn yes the HackMii Installer can be deleted once you've finished installing HBC and if you want, DVDx and BootMii. As for Gecko OS, I haven't actually used it myself, I don't have any import games so don't need to use it. I'll look around andby SifJar - Getting Started
The latest firmware doesnt remove HBC, no updates yet have. Just update regularly. But depending on whether you're on 3.3v1 or 3.3v2, you may lose some functionality.by SifJar - Getting Started
OK that looks OK now, provided you added the boot.elf as you said. And btw, you dont install HackMii, you use HackMii installer to install the Homebrew Channel. And optionally BootMii (brick protection) and DVDx (allows homebrew apps to use DVDs, for example this lets you play DVD movies in MPlayer CE and other apps.). But anyway, once you have installed HBC (Homebrew Channel), you can indeed delby SifJar - Getting Started
well you need the private folder from bannerbomb as well, but and delete boot.dol, as I believe boot.elf is the HackMii installer.by SifJar - Getting Started
I just had an idea - there should be a page on WiiBrew which lists which games have which updates/IOS. Anyone else think this is a good idea?by SifJar - Ideas, requests
well, it was always illegal, just it was temporarily thought to be legal. it always actually had copyrighted code in it. but theoretically you could build a custom channel manually using benzin and comex's nand loader, but i know of no tools available to build it into a wad. so you'd have to work that bit out, then probably you'd be best to create your own installer rather than aby SifJar - Getting Started
and i believe you're right about Nintendo servers sharing bans. i read that people who cheated on mario kart couldnt play online in brawl either.by SifJar - Offtopic
copyed games/backups/illegal downloaded games are not supported here. we don't like piracy. its illegal, and harms the game industry. consider your actions please. and also, be warned that if you continue to ask about such illegal stuff, you will be banned.by SifJar - The Junkyard
i.e above system menu 3.3v1? yeah i know, hence i said it....by SifJar - Getting Started
There are theoretically ways, the HBC banner was made legally using legal code, but I believe it is very very difficult to do as there are no/few tools to do so. (Benzin perhaps?) But anyway, unless you have a lot of programming and hacking knowledge, it's out of the question to legally create a channel.by SifJar - Getting Started
thats only for channel loading and rebooting with hooksby SifJar - Getting Started
It's an IOS. The Wii has many of them. They're the way it works. I'm afraid I don't really understand any more than that. Basically, they're a part of the Wii's software.by SifJar - Getting Started
Basically every Wii has it's own set of "keys". These are basically long strings of numbers (and letters?) which are unique to that Wii. These keys are in the NAND dump, and if a Wii has a NAND dump restored which has different keys, it won't boot, because it's built to only boot stuff with it's own key. I think. And in anticipation of your or someone else's future questiby SifJar - Getting Started
Ah, well I'm in Europe, not US so that's why I paid attention. Seek never stated he was from US.by SifJar - Offtopic
Well, according to HackMii, they charge way more if you have HBC installed. Like the price of a new Wii for what should be a cheap repair.by SifJar - Offtopic
QuoteWaxyPumpkin72What system menu are you on? Why does that matter? Bannerbomb will work on any firmware, any serial number.by SifJar - Getting Started
hehe, youd didn't know you could do that? lol.by SifJar - Getting Started
