the hash/signature check is only done while installing the channels. you'll however need a signature (i.e. tik/tmd) for a title with a gid of zero to modify the nand contents. You'll most likely have to fakesign this signature. And if you can fakesign it you could also just fakesign your hacked channel. Another possibility is - given that you can already run homebrew - just emulate theby svpe - Homebrew General
No, it was not a design failure. The design of the security systems isn't that bad at all: They sign everything (DVDs, Channels, Savegames,...) using well-established cryptography algorithms (RSA, elliptic curve cryptography, SHA-1,...). They even have a hardware AES and SHA-1 engine they use to be able to maintain a chain of trust during the boot process and a processor dedicated to almostby svpe - Software
QuoteHyperHackerSo the apploader runs as soon as the disc is inserted? Interesting. I guess the Freeloader disc is simply fakesigned then? I thought they were using some sort of exploit that simply nobody else was interested in because we didn't need it. :-/ yep. they are "just" abusing the strncmp bug. this is also the reason why freeloader isn't working anymore on the strncmp-fixedby svpe - Software
it's actually very unlikely that the Wii has USB2 support and it's definitely now the "main priority" of anyone i know...by svpe - Homebrew General
If you don't know how to create such a dump (or how to ask intelligent questions on how to make one) you won't be able to find a new game exploit, sorry.by svpe - Software
no, it doesn't require a IOS patch. just patch the game executable to create a dump of MEM1 and MEM2 over usb gecko. you'll only need a IOS patch if you also want its private memory.by svpe - Software
Quotedevilsbook There is no way any SDHC card can be used. I don't know whether the Wii's hardware supports this, but if it does, the software to take advantage of this does not exist. It's only a software problem. SDHC cards are well supported by the hardware.by svpe - Homebrew General
Quotedonnicholsyeah, that didn't really help. thanks anyways Doesn't anyone have a big sd card laying around that they can plug in? I don't want to sound desperate, i just want to put all my snes games on the card at one time. lol go away, pirate.by svpe - Homebrew General
both commands work (i.e. valid return value and ES_LaunchTitle does not return), the wii's slot led blinks and i get greeted by the system menu's warning screen instead of my GC game then... :/by svpe - Software

Well, yet another solution for this problem may be the ios_stub with IPC functions (just like the python client) once it's done. The whole libusb-like interface the IOS exposes also isn't fully suitable for a kernel module - isobel already demonstrated that it's possible but he wasn't quite happy with that solution either the last time i talked to him. That was a few weeks befby svpe - Software

Feel free to help completing the binary translation core which is required to get a decent framerate. tehpola has already done a great job there if you look at the SVN repository.by svpe - Homebrew Applications
