You mentioned "Let’s assume most participants do not have internet connections." So here's the message that you send to your research team: It is not possible to get someone's information, period, if they do not have an Internet connection, without them physically giving it to you. It's impossible "hack" a Wii to magically have an Internet connection. Much like it's nby dancinninja - Ideas, requests
Well, I think it's a noble endeavor. But yeah, if anyone tells you "no" there better be a law attached to it. ... And depends on how much help you need.by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
I liked cplusplus.com. No, it's not C, but it's got the basics of C++ at least, that's something.by dancinninja - Coding
SEE?! I'm not the only one! I'm not crazy! I'm not crazy! Hahahaahaa! I knew it. ... But seriously, I have had similar problems. I shall try taking out the GC controller and memory card, as those are the only things plugged in. What is interesting is that homebrew had worked before. Do you think this could be attributed (at least in part) to system 4.2? Fascinating stuff.by dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
Good point, best to tweak after it's working. I'll just sit by in quiet excitement. ... This is me doing such... .... .. See? ...by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
I wonder, if those trees and hills could be exported as separate files (like pngs with transparency), it would be a neat little trick to have them scroll by at different speeds, giving a greater illusion of depth. But that comes down to the game engine, really. So pay me no mind.by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
Very nice, it has a calming presence. Does it scroll? Do these even need to scroll?by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
Wow, this seems like a daunting task. If it were 8-bit-looking I might be able to help, but nothing like this. Maybe I'll just stick to coding. Good luck!by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
Uh... Okay maybe I'm completely wrong but... isn't the Wii remote the camera? As in: only designed to detect two LED lights, because that's what the sensor bar has? Any more would just confuse it. Another Wii remote would detect the two LED lights, and transmit to the Wii that it's "pointing" at the screen. Or am I just confused?by dancinninja - Coding
That's a tall order you got there. TIV is read only, I know that much. I'll snoop around, see what I can find out. Might I ask, what is this for? Edit: I think that it is possible to set a lower value for the SITV value in THRM3. However, the official documentation warns that this may cause inaccuracies in the sensed temperature.by dancinninja - Coding
Is it specific to Wii Fit? Can you run anything else? What about Gamecube games, if you have any? And this may be silly, but: did you put in the disc upside down?by dancinninja - Homebrew General
Huh... Why is that? It seems that it doesn't like the "<" and ">" characters. Is this to prevent hacking or something? Why does it delete anything after "include"? I've seen this on a few other posts and I wasn't sure what was going on. It was the thought that counts!by dancinninja - Coding
Actually I think it's... ogc/lwp_watchdog.h ...that provides the nifty timer functions.by dancinninja - Coding
Ooooooooh I had trouble with this one too. I had to delve into the assembly line to make sure it was right, too. gettime() This will get the number of "ticks" essentially, since the program started running. Here's my timer code: u64 start, diff; //u64 is defined as: "unsigned long long" start = gettime(); // Stuff I want to time // ... diff = gettime() - start;by dancinninja - Coding
It's very doubtful that your Wii system version would be the problem. Hmm. Is there an error code that it gives you? Does it go back to the main menu, the homebrew menu, or the VBA menu? What kind of crash is it? Does it just freeze? Is it a "hard crash" in that you have to literally unplug the Wii in order to do anything? A combination of any of the above? That might be able to help us.by dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
Ah, I see. Thank you. I'm glad that my work has yielded positive results! Getting back to the topic at hand, though. Can Mr. Slimreturns (or anyone else who has had this trouble) tell us when, exactly, it crashes? That would be of great help. I must apologize for this; I lack the software to test it myself. If it crashes in a certain area or when you do a certain action, it could be a staby dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
Hmm, crashing isn't an optimization issue (unless I screwed something up). When does it crash? Is there a way to get it to crash consistently? The more info you can give the better. Even seemingly needless details can help, believe it or not.by dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
QuoteCmnatchahaWhat will that do? Several things, all of which you won't be able to see. Individual testing of everything yielded ranges of 5-25% speed increases. There are a lot of changes, but I have to be VERY careful as to what I commit to because, for instance, I once had to spend an entire DAY pinpointing the piece of code that mysteriously made half of the screen black. So I have toby dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
I did a major overhaul of a vital loop for the GBA code. The next update should reflect this. It may not be perfect, but at least it's something. I'm working as fast as I can!by dancinninja - Homebrew Applications
Intriguing concept. A 81 page business plan is certainly the way to go. Bravo. I don't know if you could get something by E3 though, especially if the programmer has to work for free. This means that they'll be doing it in their spare time. Sorry to rain on the parade, so to speak. However, with a concrete proof of concept, it might not be too bad. Do you have any existing code? Anyby dancinninja - Ideas, requests
The "/home/ew562c/Dev" part is due to the assembly file "libmxml.a" because it was compiled on someone else's machine. Try getting the source code and compiling it yourself, or use the source code in your own project and instead of altering the Makefile with -lmxml, include the header files instead.by dancinninja - Coding
Ekeeke! That's it! Awesome! Yes, it is directly from the hardware timers. It's a count of how many clock ticks since the program began. Yeah, I dug deep, deep, DEEP into it and found the actual assembly code. Whew. In any case, I can finally do my tests! So far I've done a few and it works marvelously. Thank you so much, all of you!by dancinninja - Coding
Awesome! Now all I have to do is figure out why (oh why?) the time function seems to return a nonsense result when I run it on the Wii. Nothing fancy, really: int start; int end; //More declarations... start = time(NULL); printf("\n\t Start: %d", start); //More code... end = time(NULL); printf("\n\t End: %d", end); I've included time.h, what am I doing wrong here?by dancinninja - Coding
For some reason, Dolphin keeps giving me the error about 1GB of memory. I've checked it out on their forum, and I haven't been able to find a solution (disabling virus/etc. software still doesn't work, grr!). Maybe it's because I only have 1GB of memory total? Not sure. As for the Wifi patch, I don't even know how to ATTEMPT it. How do you patch something like libogc?by dancinninja - Coding
I have tried insight, but seeing as how my computer is an AMD processor, and I can't seem to get Dolphin to run, I am unable to run any code without a Wii. I do not have a USB gecko, and (I am a bit ashamed to admit this) I do not know how to patch libogc with the wifi patch. I got the patch, and was bewildered beyond belief as to how I could use it. All I really wanted was just the abby dancinninja - Coding
Hey all, I've been having trouble profiling my code on the Wii, so I looked around for some sort of hardware timer that I could use. I found the Starlet Timer which could prove useful. However, I am at a loss. How am I supposed to access the value stored in a specific register, such as HW_TIMER? Thanks.by dancinninja - Coding
I'll do it. Might be fun!by dancinninja - Ideas, requests
