QuoteKhoraskiWhat's wrong with this website? I can't post a new topic. It doesn't let me. Try ticking the box which says you aren't going to talk about WADs, cIOS etc. Also, please do not post completely unrelated stuff in other topics again, thanks.by SifJar - Wii Linux
calztchi: cIOS has nothing to do with it, and is not supported on these forums. pmafia: If it is one of the newer Wii Remotes with the built in MotionPlus, it will not work with older apps. Only apps that have been updated in the last few months will work with them.by SifJar - Homebrew General
For the autoboot disc hack, I have a feeling it may have been renamed for newer System Menus, but I think the hack still exists. I could be wrong though. The locking hacks have only been made for older System Menus I think.by SifJar - Homebrew General
It's OK, but you should know that Priiloader is notoriously poorly coded and has caused quite a few bricks in it's time. (If you already have it installed, you're safe, at least until you next try to update it; it's the installation process that usually causes the bricks)by SifJar - Homebrew General
Hold reset while turning on the Wii to access priiloader, then go into the system menu hacks option and disable everything. Then you should be able to update.by SifJar - Getting Started
Do you have BootMii/boot2 or BootMii/IOS? If you have /boot2, just use it to restore a NAND dump you should have. If you have /IOS, then there is no way of fixing your Wii if you can't access preloader, except for using a hardware NAND reprogrammer (involves dismantling your Wii, or else sending it to someone else to do it for you); again, you require a NAND dump to have been made before youby SifJar - FixMii
QuotetueidjYou can just downloaded any purchased content from the shop again (providing it loads properly), formatting doesn't remove your purchase records. Oh really? I guess I was misinformed then. Thanks for correcting my mistake.by SifJar - Getting Started
That's what happens when you format your Wii. I don't know why you thought it was a good idea, but it wasn't. Anyway, to get Shop Channel to work, the simplest way is to update your Wii to 4.3 (this will wipe out priiloader). Then to get HBC back use Letterbomb to run the HackMii Installer and reinstall HBC. There is (I believe) no way to recover any of the channels you had purchasby SifJar - Getting Started
QuoteNintendoBoyGreen.Yeah, it's still switched on. (It's a sort of green/yellow colour, which is why I said yellow before). If you actually turn it off and then turn it on again, it'll probably work absolutely fine. So no, this does not prove that installing the Homebrew Channel bricks Wiis.by SifJar - FixMii
Sounds like your only option is to find someone with a hardware NAND reprogrammer and send them your Wii and nand.bin file, so they can fix your Wii. (You could try and get a NAND reprogrammer yourself, but for one repair it's probably cheaper to get someone else to do it, and certainly much easier). One person who does this is a guy by the name "DeadlyFoez". Contact him here: I don'by SifJar - FixMii
What colour is the power LED? If it's yellow, the Wii is still turned on, and so of course pushing the button will do nothing. Did you try my suggestion of unplugging it for a few minutes and then trying again?by SifJar - FixMii
Yeah, updating wipes out Priiloader. Messing with themes without fully understanding what you're doing is a bad idea, as you've sadly learnt the hard way. For the record, Multi Mod Manager is not good app, it is a poorly coded rip off of a bunch of other programs, with numerous bugs added and without releasing source (some or all of the apps it has stolen code from are GPL licensed, whiby SifJar - FixMii
Simply installing HBC cannot brick your Wii. It never has before, and almost certainly never will. Either you did something else after installing HBC (what all apps have you run? list every single app you have run), or the Wii is not actually bricked. Unplug it, leave it a few minutes, then plug it in again and try turning on. Check all video cables are connected correctly. If there is still nby SifJar - FixMii
Yes, they can (and according to various reports, have) refuse to fix Wii's with any sort of modification, including HBC. (Also stuff like modchips).by SifJar - Getting Started
QuoteNintendoBoyWell, I heard that you could unbrick a Wii with Priiloader, by loading BootMii from it.Not really. Technically, yes you can load BootMii/IOS with Priiloader. But that requires you to be able to access Priiloader, which is only possible in minor bricks (banner bricks, theme bricks) that can very easily be avoided (don't install untrusted custom channels, don't install theby SifJar - Homebrew Applications
How did you brick it? (i.e. what where you doing before it happened?). Do you have a modchip and/or a patched System Menu IOS? Do you have priiloader or BootMii/boot2?by SifJar - FixMii
It has the potential to be dangerous, with the potential varying with the app. BootMii is installed by HackMii Installer, which has undergone plenty of testing, and so is "safe" (there have been no reported bricks from installing BootMii that I know, other than one or two who lost power during the wrong moment of the install ; considering the hundreds of thousands of installs, that's not baby SifJar - Homebrew Applications
The IOS used for the installer must be an IOS that accepts fake signatures i.e. either a cIOS or a patched IOS. Regular IOS will not work.by SifJar - Homebrew General
If all you did was format your Wii from the settings menu, you DO still have priiloader.by SifJar - Getting Started
1. Installing the Homebrew Channel and BootMii are completely safe, there are no reported "bricks" (i.e. broken consoles) from just installing HBC and/or BootMii. Other stuff (cIOS, patched System Menus, themes, "backup loaders") have been known to cause bricks, but the vast majority of those things are against the rules here. None of them are required for regular homebrew. 2. Legality of homebrby SifJar - Getting Started
Formatting does not remove Priiloader. It is still there, and it is blocking your update. Hold reset when you turn on the Wii, go into System Menu hacks and turn them all off, then load the system menu and perform the update.by SifJar - Getting Started
A little more on the topic of backups: As bg4545 touched on, laws vary from place to place. Just because in one country they can be legal (dependent on an individual's interpretation of laws in some cases), doesn't mean they are in every country. In addition, any information given regarding backups can (and probably will) be used by about 10 times as many pirates as legitimate users. Iby SifJar - Cheat Codes

QuotePacmaniacI have a tiny problem with installing letterbomb. Due to parental controls, I cant verify the MAC address on my wii to download it. Any advice? Probably because Savegame Manager (GX) requires a cIOS if I recall correctly, which is something that isn't on Wiis by default. We cannot provide guidance for getting one here either. Sorry about that.by SifJar - Getting Started
You have to load the app. Reading your first post again, I note that you say boot.dol etc. are inside "APPS". This is wrong. Firstly, the directory must be called "apps" (lower case, that's important). Secondly, each app needs to have it's own subfolder within "apps". The name doesn't matter. So for example, you might create a folder (inside "apps") called "savegame_manager" (avoidby SifJar - Getting Started

Links to illegal files removed. If you are going to distribute themes, do it in MYM files, not CSM files. Two reasons; (i) with an MYM, it doesn't matter what region/version you have, you just apply it to the right base APP. With a CSM, if it's been built with the wrong base APP, you got a guaranteed brick. (ii) CSMs contain copyrighted Nintendo code, you cannot legally distribute themby SifJar - Homebrew General
